DHL Takes Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York

Ever wondered just what exactly it is DHL does during the Fashion Weeks it sponsors around the world? Christine Nashick, VP Marketing, DHL Express in the US takes us on a whirlwind tour behind the scenes at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York to see.

The birthplace of Fashion Week, New York kicks off a packed month-long social calendar for fashion designers, buyers and media alike. And with more than 90 designers officially taking their turns on the catwalks at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week tent at Lincoln Center, the week is one of the busiest events of the year.

While a blizzard kept most New Yorkers inside, the fashionistas couldn’t be held back from seeing the Autumn/Winter 2013 collections for themselves. Donning puffy parkas and trading their heels for fur-lined boots, the industry insiders warmed up to the red hot couture collections and began plotting for how best to dress next year in the wintry wonderland.

The show must go on as they say on Broadway, and thanks to a little logistical support from DHL, the shows did.

“As the official logistics partner for fashion weeks around the globe, DHL ensures these premier events go off without a hitch,” said Karsten Aufgebauer, Senior Vice President of DHL, Northeast U.S.

In New York, ensuring the delivery lines run smoothly means offering the unique service of JFK-mid-town delivery of runway samples via helicopter. Or, for those in less of a hurry, delivery via one of our low-emissions vehicles, part of a green fleet taking Manhattan by storm.
