The Big Apple Greets Spring/Summer 2013

Returning to the city that started it all, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week kicked off a month-long global design spectacle with the SS13 shows in New York.

With more than 80 designers showing in the tent at Lincoln Center, New York’s Fashion Week is the city’s single largest media event and one of the most well-known cultural institutions in the world. No wonder more than 100,000 industry insiders, including editors, buyers, retailers and VIPs turned out for the affair.

For Spring/Summer 2013, the collections look to be as eclectic as the names behind them. From Vera Wang’s and Tory Burch’s ethnically-inspired sundresses to the Medieval look behind Rodarte’s designs, everything looks to be on tap for the time of renewal.

Many famous names have thrown their hat into the design ring, too, as celebs like Avril Lavigne and Katie Holmes took to the stage and designed their own lines. It’s no wonder with such name power that the fashion industry continues to bloom at an accelerated pace.
