Breakthrough in Paris for Australian brand Ellery

Emerging designer Kym Ellery held her first show at Paris Fashion Week

 
Always home to the final Fashion Week on the “Big Four” calendar, Paris never fails to impress, leaving exhausted fashionistas and jetsetters with loads to look forward to in the coming season.

This year, alongside the standard power players showcasing their ideas for Spring/Summer 2014 at venues across the City of Lights was Australian newcomer Kym Ellery.

 
Invited by the Fédération Français de la Couture du Prêt-à-Porter des Couturiers et des Créateurs de Mode to show as part of the official off-schedule for newcomers in Paris, Ellery jumped at the chance after receiving such praise from visitors to the showroom housing her collection the last two seasons.

Success for an Australian brand in Paris is rare, with Ellery becoming the third designer in the last 20 years to have been offered a spot. A graduate of the prestigious Central Saint Martin’s College in London, which has also produced such iconic design talents as Stella McCartney, the late Alexander McQueen and Phoebe Philo, Ellery knows her way around the industry.

 
Having accomplished cult status locally Down Under since its launch in 2007, Ellery's label has become one of the fastest growing in Australia, and the showing in Paris coincides nicely with the company's plans for expansion abroad.
