Fashion Icon Brings New Style to the Old World

Vivienne Westwood, the reigning queen of British punk style, has brought her unique brand of high fashion to Vienna with the grand opening of her eponymous boutique in the city’s downtown shopping district.

The Viennese Kunsthistorisches Museum was abuzz October 16 as the famous British designer put on a special showing of her Haute Couture Gold Label and Capsule Collection evening gowns to celebrate the opening of the brand’s first store in Austria.

It was an event not to be missed, with the leading members of Viennese high society getting a personal presentation of pieces of the Autumn Winter 2012/13 and Spring/Summer 2013 previewed in Paris last month. The designer herself was on hand with her husband and son, along with model Kate Moss, to take in the stunning presentation.

Inspired by the opulent 17th century, the pieces on show seemed fit for a royal waltz, with embellished cocktail dresses, silk ball gowns, and stunning sequined evening wear.

As Westwood herself has said, “My clothes allow you to project your personality, and are quite theatrical in the sense that they are real clothes, well-designed, and they give you a chance to express yourself. They are also inviting–people to respond to them and want to come and talk to you.”

Delivering Red Label Around the World

It’s a conversation DHL is happy to be helping along. Carlo D’Amario, Managing Director at Vivienne Westwood said, "We are delighted that our partnership with DHL will see them supporting the Red Label Catwalk Show.
