Whether on the road or at home in Leipzig, the Gewandhaus Orchestra gets its support from Lothar Petrausch, the players’ lead attendant since the 1980s.

Though the Gewandhaus Orchestra spends most of its time at home in Leipzig, lead attendant Lothar Petrausch is there for the players wherever they are in the world. As the orchestra prepares for the second leg of its 2013 European Tour, DHL caught up with the lead attendant – the man making sure everything goes according to plan – to get a glimpse of his daily life, both on tour and off. From ensuring the instruments are all in perfect shape to timing the musicians’ entry music, Petrausch is the man behind the music.
