Congratulations Manchester United, Barclays Premier League champs!

Long-time Manchester United coach Sir Alex Ferguson ended his illustrious career with his 13th Premier League title at the helm of the Red Devils. As the team’s Official Logistics Partner, DHL was there every step of the way of this great season.

The final few weeks of the 2012/2013 Barclays Premier League season were a bit more relaxing for Manchester United than for some of the other teams – that’s because Manchester United wrapped up the title four weeks ahead of schedule, securing their 13th Premier League title on April 22 with a 3-0 win against Aston Villa.

The one-sided affair at Old Trafford was a Robin van Persie highlight reel which started just 83 seconds in, when the Dutch striker got his first of three goals for the day.

Manchester United simply ran away with the title this year, taking 89 points from 38 contests (second place in the table were cross-town rivals Manchester City with 78 points). It was a season filled with countless highlights for Manchester United, and as the team's Official Logistics Partner and Official Training Kit Partner, it was an action-packed year for DHL as well.

Starting in the summer with Tour 2012 delivered by DHL, Manchester United embarked on a world tour that saw them play in front of packed stadiums in South Africa, China, Norway, Sweden, and Germany (for pictures from all the stops, you can visit DHL Tour 2012External Link / New Window). DHL also teamed up with The Manchester United Foundation to work with disadvantaged kids, and was the sponsor of two home matches at Old Trafford.

The team’s final match of the winning 2012/2013 season was a dramatic 5-5 draw against West Bromwich on May 19, which saw van Persie score the last of his league-leading 26 goals. While the title had long been secured by Manchester United, it was an emotional match as the team – and English football – bid a final farewell to Sir Alex Ferguson, the Red Devil’s coach for 26 years.

The end of the season also marks the end of DHL's training kit sponsorship with Manchester United. We're glad to go out on a high note with the championship and are proud to have created football history with the prestigious Club as the Premier League's first ever Official Training Kit Partner - an engagement that started in 2011.

DHL is very excited to continue on as the Official Logistics Partner of Manchester United as new manager David Moyes takes the helm at Old Trafford and goes after another title for the English giants.

Good luck to Moyes and the Red Devils of Manchester United – this year’s success will be hard to top, but we’re looking forward to another great season in 2013/2014!
