Manchester United’s pre-season tour poised to begin

DHL is all set to deliver Manchester United’s biggest-ever pre-season tour – a six-match itinerary spanning three continents. The action begins on July 18 in Durban, South Africa.

DHL is once again delivering Manchester United to the world. As the Official Logistics Partner to the world’s most popular football club, DHL will support the Reds as they visit Africa, Asia and Europe in July and August.

Manchester United embarks annually on a pre-season training tour to match up against professional teams around the world. In 2011, the team toured the USA, and in the past the Reds have traveled as far as Malaysia and Nigeria.

First stop on the six-city tour is South Africa, where the squad will face AmaZulu FC in Durban on July 18 at Moses Mabhida Stadium. On July 21, the team will be in Cape Town to play Ajax Cape Town. The Reds then travel to China to play Shanghai Shenhua before heading to Europe where matches in Norway, Sweden and Germany await them.

Manchester United’s pre-season tour is designed to both prepare the team for the upcoming Premier League season and to reach out to the club’s estimated 330 million fans around the world. Outside the matches, players will visit local communities, take part in soccer schools and interact with fans.

The pre-season tour will also give the world’s leading logistics company the chance to train right alongside the world’s most popular football club. Working together with Nike, DHL will be shipping balls, nets and other equipment out to all locations. In Cape Town and Shanghai, DHL will showcase an interactive fan zone where DHL customers and Reds’ fans alike will have the opportunity to meet Manchester United Legends, test their soccer skills and enjoy live entertainment.

But you don’t have to be at one of the stops on the team’s itinerary to get in on the fun. Stay tuned to DHL Brandworld for stories from the tour.
