Manchester United Hit Europe on the DHL Tour 2012

With three games scheduled across the continent over seven days, the team brought their A players back for matches in Norway, Sweden, and Germany to wrap up the summer tour season

Starting off in the land of the midnight sun, the Reds took on the top-flight Norwegian team Valerenga in Oslo on Saturday. With the notable addition of first team defenser Nemanja Vidic, back in after an eight-month injury break, and the loss of Patrice Evra, who flew home to rejoin his wife, who had gone into labor, the team looked to be in top form.

Despite having the big guns back out on the field and a handful of attempts on goal, Valerenga held the Reds off nicely; the match ended in a goal-less draw.

A friendly with familiar foes
The results were the same in Gothenburg, Sweden against Barcelona yesterday. Playing to a sold out stadium against their familiar Spanish foes, Manchester United lost in penalties after a raucous 90 minutes that saw Rooney make a rare miss on a mid-game penalty shot – an error that sealed the game's fate.

First Team warms up before the Barcelona match

It wasn't a pleasant feeling for the Premier League's most winning team, and hopefully won't be a sign of things to come when the boys head up to Hanover, Germany to take on a strong German first league team in the 96ers on Saturday.

The night before the match, a dozen children from the “My Big Day” charity benefiting children with life-threatening illnesses got the chance of a lifetime – one-on-one time with the entire Manchester United First Team as part of a special meet-and-greet event hosted by DHL.
