Manchester United’s New Signings Dazzle Fans at Old Trafford
Manchester United Manager Sir Alex Ferguson is delighted with the start his four new signings have made at Old Trafford. And he has good reason to be, watching from the sidelines as all four scored goals on their home debuts in front of the Old Trafford faithful.
Robin van Persie
Dutch striker van Persie’s move from Arsenal to Old Trafford was naturally one of the top transfer stories of the summer. The reigning PFA Player of the Year is coming off a tremendous season with the Gunners as the Premier League’s top scorer with 30 goals.
Van Persie has lived up to all the summer hype, scoring seven goals in his first nine appearances and leading the club’s scoring charts. In what would become the dominant narrative for the Reds’ new summer signings, the Dutchman started his goal tally in United’s first home match against Fulham. A week later, away against Southampton, he put on a remarkable display firing two late goals to complete a brilliant hat trick and lead his new team to victory. A match winning penalty at Anfield against Liverpool followed, making ‘RVP’ an instant fans’ favourite.
Supporters worldwide cannot wait to see what the rest of the season brings for van Persie, in particular his blossoming relationship in attack with Wayne Rooney.

Shinji Kagawa
Japanese star Shinji Kagawa has also enjoyed a flying start to life at Manchester United with two goals from midfield in his first six appearances including a home debut goal against Fulham. Kagawa has revelled playing behind the world class strike force of van Persie, Rooney, Welbeck and Hernandez.
Kagawa has excited Manchester United fans globally with his intricate passing and quick feet under pressure. Already a key member of Sir Alex’s squad, Kagawa looks set to have a huge impact on another big season for the club.

Alexander Büttner
Büttner joined Manchester United as a relatively unknown quantity from Vitesse Arnheim this summer. After just one performance, supporters are already keen to see more of the attack-minded left back. The former Dutch Under 21 star scored on his debut against Wigan Athletic following a mazy run down the left wing.
Sir Alex Ferguson has called him one of the best young left-backs in Europe. So far we agree.

Nick Powell
One of Britain’s most exciting young players joined the club from recently promoted Crewe Alexandra in the summer. After just a matter of weeks, Powell has already found himself playing in central midfield besides the likes of Paul Scholes and Michael Carrick. The youthful attacking midfielder came off the bench during the Wigan Athletic match to make his debut and scored within minutes, realising a childhood dream in the process.
Powell first put on a Reds’ jersey in South Africa against Ajax Cape Town and again in China against Shanghai Shenhua during the DHL Tour this summer. Relive the action at www.dhltour2012.com
