Global Airside

DHL Global Airside is a division of Global Express Air Network Operations. Its main responsibility is to ensure that the safety of our staff is never compromised in the hazardous airside world i.e. in the access-controlled airport area where employees are directly involved in the arrival and departure of flights.

DHL Global Airside publishes fully harmonized processes and standards to ensure full compliance and educates staff thoroughly with best recommended practices. The aim is not only to prevent injury to staff but also to avoid damage to our valuable aircraft and other assets.

The division’s remit extends to various aspects of flight safety, such as: management of the SABLE weight & balance program; Safety Management Systems for both airlines and ground handling entities; preparation for worst case scenarios by defining and rehearsing our response to any aviation incident or accident.

Many 3rd party airlines also operate within the DHL Network so a single, global standard becomes even more critical and the liaison with these airlines is a further important task for DHL Global Airside.

With so much responsibility for airside operations, the highest possible standards need to be applied to all functions, so DHL Global Airside members represent the company on various working groups with key industry bodies such as IATA.
