Green Solutions for Express Shipments
DHL Express began offering its GOGREEN carbon neutral services in a number of European countries as early as 2006. Today our customers in around 60 countries have the option of receiving a full Carbon Offsetting for their shipments.
Numerous companies across a wide range of industries take advantage of this service. For example, we deliver, totally carbon neutral, roughly 350,000 shipments each year for the denture manufacturer MDH. For a big packaging manufacturer we offset the carbon emissions of approximately 70,000 shipments each year. And Standard Chartered Bank uses the GOGREEN service for its international courier needs.

Our carbon offset service is based on precise calculations that consider actual operational data and the specific transport routes chosen. Upon request, we provide our customers with Carbon Reports, which give an indication of the size of the ecological footprint of their express shipments from the previous year.

Improving our Network
Our customers benefit automatically from the optimization of our express network. We constantly strive to optimize the capacities of our aircraft and road transport vehicles and to shorten transport routes with the help of new international connections. In addition, we provide driver-training programs, continually modernize our aircraft fleet, and increase our use of alternative-powered vehicles.
And the results are strong. In 2011 the Express division had already improved the carbon efficiency of its network with 28 % compared to the 2007 years baseline.
