Andretti Autosport – Verizon IndyCar Series, USA

It takes speed, determination and dedication to deliver a winning performance both on and off the track. That’s why DHL has a decade of experience in motorsports, starting with Formula 1®. In 2011, DHL signed on with the winning team Andretti Autosport at the premier open-wheel racing series in the United States, the IndyCar Series. It offers one of the most diverse and challenging schedules in motorsports with races held on ovals, permanent road courses and temporary street courses, with the world-renowned Indianapolis 500-Mile Race serving as the centerpiece of the IndyCar Series schedule each year.

On Sunday, March 29, Ryan Hunter-Reay, driver of the No. 28 DHL IndyCar, participated in the first race of the 2015 Verizon IndyCar Series at the Firestone Grand Prix in St. Pete, Florida. It was the first race of IndyCar’s “Aero Kits,” which, as Ryan noted, marked a new era in racing.
As the Official Logistics Sponsor of Andretti Autosport, DHL and Indy 500 champion Ryan Hunter-Reay made 2015 another exciting year of racing news, highlighted by two major wins.

July 25 saw Ryan clock in a major win as he took the lead on Lap 264 and never looked back. Ryan became the only Verizon IndyCar Series driver to collect three wins at Iowa Speedway.

Ryan then went on to his second victory of the season on Sunday, August 23, at the Pocono raceway’s ABC Supply 500.

In 2015, DHL also entered its fourth year of sponsorship for the Milwaukee IndyFest, held on Sunday, July 12, returning once again as the official express and logistics provider. DHL could be seen leading the pre-race parade lap, delivering a unique spectacle to race fans at the world’s oldest operating motor speedway. DHL officials then continued its tradition of delivering the winner’s trophy to the victory circle at the conclusion of the day’s exciting race.

At the end of the season, Ryan captured second place at the Sonoma, California, raceway on August 30. It was his second consecutive Number 2 finish in the No. 28 DHL IndyCar. It also helped Ryan jump to an impressive sixth place in the overall season championship.

Based in Indianapolis and led by racing legend Michael Andretti, Andretti Autosport boasts a wide racing portfolio rooted in tradition and designed for success. Together with Andretti Formula E and Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross, Andretti Autosport fields multiple entries in the IndyCar Series, Indy Lights and the Pro Mazda Championship, along with entries in the FIA Formula E Championship and Global Rallycross. The company boasts four IndyCar Series championships (2004, 2005, 2007 and 2012), two Indy Lights titles (2008 and 2009), one Pro Mazda championship (2013) and one USF2000 championship (2010), as well as capturing victory at the famed Indianapolis 500 three times (2005, 2007 and 2014). Additionally the team holds two XGames Gold Medals and one Global Rallycross championship (2015). The Andretti name has grown to transcend the sport in which it has been a fixture for the past 50 years. Michael's contribution to that success – 42 race wins as a driver and another 54 as an Verizon IndyCar Series owner – has been significant.

As Official Express and Logistics Provider of Andretti Autosport, DHL handles all of the team’s international logistics needs – big or small.
