FIA World Endurance Championship

Logistics that goes the distance
The FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) is where some of the world’s most outstanding drivers defy the odds to compete in a battle of endurance. Racing for a period between 6 and 24 hours, drivers relay the world’s fastest cars around iconic race courses from Silverstone and Nürburgring to Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez and Le Mans. There is also the added excitement of seeing major teams such as Porsche, Ferrari and Aston Martin race against independent groups known as ‘privateers’.

WEC was originally designed to bring the spirit of the legendary Le Mans 24 Hour Endurance race to a worldwide audience and is now sanctioned by the FIA – the motorsports industry’s governing body.

From the start, WEC knew that in order for the series to run smoothly, there was a need for an outstanding performance in logistics, particularly as the races not only test the stamina and skill of the drivers but also the durability and reliability of their cars.

Recognizing DHL’s longstanding experience and expertise in the area of motorsports logistics, DHL was appointed the exclusive Logistics Partner of FIA WEC shortly after the series was launched in 2012. Our partnership with WEC is the perfect showcase for our professional logistics capabilities, as the range of services we deliver to the Championship organizers and teams reflects what we do for everyday customers. Our role includes the booking of planes and managing the customs clearance of freight whether it’s travelling by air, ground or sea. We work with the teams to ensure the precision of export and import documentation to ensure smooth on-time delivery, prepare the load-plans, provide packing materials and handle any ad-hoc shipments.

WEC is now one of the fastest growing global motorsports, attracting more than 133 million fans. In 2017 the event calendar features 10 races in countries including Britain, Bahrain, Germany, Japan, Shanghai and the USA.

DHL teams are made up of highly skilled and dedicated professionals who feel passionate about playing their own part in each thrilling event. While the racing drivers battle it out on track, DHL and WEC’s own experts work together in the paddock and behind the scenes to ensure that every detail is perfect and that everything runs impeccably.

FIA WEC is about speed, perfection and endurance and these are the very qualities they look for from DHL. We are proud to deliver them every single time.
