Football Association of Ireland

Together for Two Decades and Growing
The Football Association of Ireland (FAI) is the governing body of football in Ireland whose goal is to continue to increase participation in all sections of the community through its members, voluntary and executive, working with the many stakeholders who enjoy and support the sport. Over its rich history dating back to the 19th Century, the FAI has been successful in pursuing this goal as football has grown to become the most popular sport in the country. Over 450,000 people are regularly involved in the game.

The FAI’s international teams have had their share of success in recent decades, and DHL is proud to have supported the Irish national teams over the past 20 years. The national men’s team was ranked sixth in the world in August 1993 after a number of successful years on the global stage that saw the Boys in Green qualify for the UEFA Euro 1988, reach the quarterfinals of the 1990 FIFA World Cup and make the final 16 at the 1994 FIFA World Cup. The team was back in the knockout stages of international play for the 2002 FIFA World Cup and the UEFA Euro 2012.

As the Official Express and Logistics Partner of the FAI, DHL handles logistics for the team’s kit, training equipment and other supplies. Although a great focus is placed on the senior Irish national team, our support extends to team kits and equipment logistics for all other Irish national teams.

It’s a long-term partnership that has paid dividends over the years. In the run-up to, during and after the Euro 2012, DHL worked seamlessly with the team to move over 16 metric tons of kit and equipment to multiple stadiums and training centers.

DHL looks forward to growing and strengthening the relationship even further, delivering both on and off the field.
