DHL-Sinotrans Identified as Top Employer Brand in Shanghai, China

CRF Selected DHL-Sinotrans as “China’s Top EmployersTM 2007 Shanghai Region”

DHL-Sinotrans, the leading express company in China has been selected as one of “China’s Top EmployersTM 2007 Shanghai Region” by Corporate Research Foundation (CRF), a leading international organization specialized in identifying top performers worldwide. The evaluation aims to identify employers with remarkable achievements in talents attraction and retention in Shanghai, with full consideration of international standards and features of the local market.

In the past 15 years, CRF has successfully organized dozens of patented Top Employers projects in countries such as Britain and Germany, identifying representatives of top employers by defining the meaning of top employers in local country. The authority of the evaluation has been acknowledged by more than 2000 enterprises all over the world.

Under the guidelines of Employer of Choice initiative, DHL-Sinotrans has made huge efforts on training of employees. Grace Zheng, National HR Director of DHL-Sinotrans, said, “We have developed a complete set of professional training courses for employees. In recent years, every employee at DHL-Sinotrans enjoys at least 50 training hours on average each year. There have been 600 promotions by the end of September this year, and more than 60 percent of our management team is promoted from within. The figure is likely to rise to 70 to 80 percent in the coming years, when our employees will see more opportunities of career development as our business continues to grow rapidly.”

The establishment of DHL Logistics Management University (DHL LMU) in Shanghai has positioned DHL as a pioneer in generating world-class logistics specialists. The facility aims to provide training programs to improve the skill sets and business knowledge of DHL employees as well as the logistics and supply-chain management knowledge of customers. The setting up of the facility is in anticipation of the continued strong growth that DHL will experience in Greater China and Asia Pacific in the coming years, which is also in line with its commitment to raise the standards and level of professionalism of its employees and the logistics industry in the region. Ever since October 2005, more than 200 DHL employees from the management team have received training at LMU.

As an Employer of Choice, DHL-Sinotrans values the feelings and ideas of employees, who’re encouraged to communicate with the management team on their comments and suggestions on the working environment as well as the development plans of the company. We’ve created various opportunities for this, including regular Town Hall meetings, conference with employee representatives, as well as ESD surveys conducted by third-party evaluation companies every 2 years.
