Since the last quarter of 2006, many airlines have stopped publishing their Fuel Surcharge Methodology on their websites. As a consequence, DHL Global Forwarding has also ceased to publish a Jet Fuel Index.
If you require guidance on jet fuel price development, an independent indicator can be found on the IATA website.
Security Surcharges
After the terrorist attacks of September 11 2001, all carriers had to increase their security measures tremendously, also for air freight transportation. To cover these and their heavily increased insurance costs, they implemented the Security Surcharge (SSC). DHL Global Forwarding must collect this for the carriers without adding any profit margin; this is a pass-through cost only.
