Exel Acquisition FAQ
What will the new organisation be called?
The organisation will be called DHL. DHL will contain the 5 sub-brands: DHL Express, DHL Freight, DHL Exel Supply Chain, DHL Global Forwarding, DHL Global Mail. *

* For our North American Contract Logistics business, we will continue to use the Exel brand.
Why has Deutsche Post World Net decided to acquire Exel?
There are many benefits of the acquisition, especially for customers, because of the great geographic fit and the complementary product mix of the two organisations.
What is the integration approach to IT?
Our overriding approach is 'business as usual' under our current IT operating model. In parallel, the integration of IT will follow a three-phased approach: initial data sharing and assessment, secondly IT synergies and alignment and thirdly in-depth, long term IT strategy planning in consultation with customers.
Where will I track and trace my freight orders?
No immediate change is expected in your normal track and trace of freight orders. We continue to look at ways to enhance our track and trace tools and soon hope to announce specific plans for origination and destination tracking using existing tools, regardless of origin and destination.
What does the deal bring me as a customer?
Together we can offer services and solutions that we could not previously provide. We have an even larger global network and can be flexible in terms of locations and operational bases. In addition to a world-class contract logistics business, we have a complete in-house transport offering from Express, road freight, ocean and air freight.
Who will be my single point of contact going forward?
We are currently developing the team to serve you best. We would like to get your feedback and input into this process to ensure that we implement the best team to support your ongoing needs. Until this point, certain customers may have one co-lead from Exel and one co-lead from DHL. They will be responsible for ensuring our relationship with you is managed in an integrated and co-ordinated manner.
Is there much overlap between Exel and DHL's customers? For example, one of my competitors uses DHL already?
We have developed a process whereby an overlap is managed carefully to ensure that we continue to provide you with the very highest levels of service. In some cases, there will be account co-leads, one from DHL and one from Exel, and this will be very carefully managed by Senior Executives from both businesses.
Have you had feedback from other customers; what has it been like?
The feedback has been very positive and reflects the positive media coverage. Together, Exel and DHL, as part of the Deutsche Post World Net, can offer a broader range of solutions and services.
