We're offering a new way to transform your logistics with DHL Express GoGreen Plus, our solution to help reduce the carbon emissions from air shipments using Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).

We use Sustainable Aviation Fuel made from recycled waste, like used cooking oil or other renewable resources, that is specifically designed to be a substitute for traditional jet fuel.

CO₂e Reduction

Sustainable Fuels can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by around 80 percent compared to fossil fuels.

We offer you several options to take advantage of GoGreen Plus, allowing you to scale your investment and emissions reduction.

Tailor your path to more sustainable shipping

If you're ready to start using Sustainable Aviation Fuel to reduce your carbon emissions, we offer two ways for your business to use GoGreen Plus.

Option 1: Contractual Basis

With a DHL account and contract, you can customize your Sustainable Fuel blend. The Basic GoGreen Plus Option includes CO₂e reduction set tiers of up to 70%. With a contract, you can further reduce the CO₂e emissions associated with your shipments, up to a full 80% reduction compared to fossil fuels. An independent auditor will annually verify the emissions reduction values for the purchased Sustainable Fuels used in the GoGreen Plus service.

Option 2: Individual Shipments through MyDHL+

If you are shipping using MyDHL+ (as a guest or on your account without GoGreen Plus in your contract), you can add GoGreen Plus to any individual shipment. This is a great option for SMEs (small and medium-sized) and e-commerce businesses with smaller cargo loads. Selecting GoGreen Plus through MyDHL+ enables you to reduce the CO₂e emissions associated with your shipments.

How Does It Work?

Decarbonize your value chain with Book and Claim

In contrast to "offsetting" - where businesses “neutralize" their emissions through environmental programs like reforestation and habitat restoration projects - GoGreen Plus is "insetting."

Insetting allows businesses to reduce their Scope 3 emissions, the indirect greenhouse gas emissions that occur in their value chain. Read more about Scope 3 emissions from the EPA

Book and Claim

An integral part of insetting is the "Book and Claim" system. Sometimes, Sustainable Aviation Fuel is not readily available for immediate use. Whether constrained by production capacity or costs, the "Book and Claim" system lets us decouple the environmental benefit from where the fuel is physically used.

Fuel Tracking

When a sustainable fuel supplier produces Sustainable Aviation Fuel, they generate a certificate based on the quantity of sustainable fuel they make from sustainable sources. When we purchase Sustainable Aviation Fuel, we receive an independently verified certificate through the "Book and Claim" verifying the purchase.

Benefit Transfer

When you select GoGreen Plus for a shipment, DHL Express provides you with this certificate. So, even though your package might not have been shipped in an aircraft powered by sustainable fuel, somewhere in the world someone else's shipment did. Your purchase of GoGreen Plus replaced fossil-based fuel and reduced overall transport emissions - and you get the credit for that.

Track your GoGreen Plus green house gas reductions

We make it easy to track your GoGreen Plus greenhouse gas reductions, especially if you're subject to the EU's CSRD directive that requires annual reporting. Read about EU's CSRD directive

CO₂e Reduction Certificates

Your company will receive a GoGreen Plus Certificate including the emissions reduction value and details about the sustainable fuel allocated to you through our GoGreen Plus program, such as the supplier, feedstock type, and specific reduction amount. This certificate can be used for your own GHG emissions reporting. DHL will provide a complimentary Customer Emissions Report.

CO₂e Emission Reporting

Your company will receive a detailed emissions report with the capability of drilling down to Airwaybill level. Emissions are calculated based on the billed weight, most common routing, and related transport modes. We adhere to international standards, including the GHG Protocol, GLEC Framework version 3.2, and ISO 14083 principles, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of our emission reports.
