FIA World Endurance Championship

Logistics that goes the distance
The FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) is where some of the world’s most outstanding drivers defy the odds to compete a battle of endurance. Racing for between six and 24 hours, drivers relay the world’s fastest cars around iconic race courses from Silverstone and Nürburgring to Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez and Le Mans. There is also the added drama of seeing teams from major names such as Porsche, Ferrari and Aston Martin race against independent groups known as ‘privateers’.

WEC was originally designed to bring the spirit of the legendary Le Mans 24 Hour Endurance race to a worldwide audience and is now sanctioned by the FIA – the motorsports industry’s governing body.

From the start, WEC knew that in order for the series to run smoothly, there was a need for outstanding performance in logistics as well, particularly as the races not only test the stamina and skill of the drivers but also the durability and reliability of their cars.

Recognizing DHL’s longstanding experience and expertise in the area of motorsports logistics, they appointed DHL exclusive Logistics Partner of FIA WEC shortly after the series was launched in 2012. The partnership with WEC is the perfect showcase for our professional logistics capabilities, as the range of services we deliver to the Championship organizers and teams very much reflects what we do for everyday customers. Our role includes booking of planes and managing customs clearance of freight whether it’s travelling by air, ground or sea. We work with the teams to ensure precision of export and import documentation which is vital to ensure smooth on-time delivery and we also prepare load-plans, provide packing materials and handle ad-hoc shipments.

WEC is now one of the fastest growing global motorsports, attracting more than 133 million fans. In 2017 the event calendar features nine races in countries including Britain, Bahrain, Germany, Japan, Shanghai and the USA.

DHL teams are made up of highly skilled and dedicated professionals who feel passionate about playing their own part in every thrilling event. Whilst the drivers may be battling it out on the track, DHL and WEC’s own experts work together in the paddocks and behind the scenes to ensure that every detail is perfect and that everything runs impeccably.

FIA WEC is all about speed, perfection and endurance and these are the very qualities they look for from DHL. We are proud to deliver them every single time.
