OPPORTUNITIES FOR EX-FORCES
DHL - Supplying Opportunities for the Ex-Forces
DHL is proud to have signed the Armed Forces Covenant, demonstrating our commitment to those who serve or who have served in the Armed Forces and their Families.
In 2017, we were awarded the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Gold Award.
Our core values are closely aligned to those of HM Forces, which puts us in a unique position before you even start to look for possible employment with in DHL. Using these core values and ours will see a partnership which can deliver excellence.
Our commitment at DHL is that we will actively seek to find the right position for the right person. We are Armed Forces friendly and understand that the experience you gained and honed in the Forces is what sets you up for an exciting future within our organisation.
We value service leavers, their spouses and reservists, and through our signed commitment with the Armed Forces Covenant, we endeavour to support your employment through providing awareness of and access to career opportunities, partnering with a variety of organisations.
At DHL, we work with the Career Transition Partnership to enable people who are leaving the forces successfully reintegrate into the world of work.
Our commitment doesn’t stop at service leavers – we value spouses and service families and work together with FFJ to to ensure those individuals are just as supported.
Embracing partnerships that deliver excellence, we engage with The RLC, sharing best practice, knowledge and mutual understanding within the logistics industry.
“When I left the Military I was confused to what I would be doing to further my career. I was alone, confused and receiving lots of knock backs from jobs that I was applying for, which was really hard to take on a personal level.
Since joining DHL they recognise the benefit to having military personnel as employees with the amount of experience, skill set and work ethics that we bring. My life has turned round completely since DHL took me on, recognising my passion, determination and keen eye for detail.
I have been in DHL for less than three years, my first job in health and safety. Already I have progressed to running my own site, studying for my diploma and already targeting my next move.
The point I am making is if you work hard and apply those military experiences DHL will only help you grow further, the only thing stopping you would be you! My advice, choose DHL! You won’t regret the decision!"
“As an ex service man I have found that working for DHL has similarities that are relatable and that you can progress within DHL if you decide you want a career that is both rewarding and satisfying”.
“During my time with DHL I have strived to succeed in all areas and DHL has helped me develop my skills over the course of my career which has benefited myself and the company. DHL are my civilian army equivalent and I am honoured to work for such a great company”
“At DHL you truly get out what you put in. When I left the military I was intent on a career in the police force, but since joining DHL I can honestly say that I’ve never looked back.
There have been huge opportunities available to me and I’ve been able to balance my personal life with having a rewarding career, which is what I really wanted.”
“For service leavers who are looking to begin a career with DHL I’d give them three pieces of advice. Firstly, have an open mind – people might not always consider a career in logistics but there is something for everyone here. Next, be flexible – civilian careers are not as set as the military but offer different things that you might enjoy. And finally, take all of the opportunities you get and follow them to wherever they take you!”
