MORE THAN 1,000 DHL EXPRESS EMPLOYEES IN KOREA DEVOTE TIME TO 26 DIFFERENT VOLUNTEERING INITIATIVES ON GLOBAL VOLUNTEER DAY

Press Release: Seoul, June 12, 2023

DHL Express Korea employees and their family members volunteered for various activities in 26 regions across the nation

DHL Express, the world’s leading international express services provider, announced that 1,036 employees participated in various volunteer activities in 26 regions across the country on ‘DHL Global Volunteer Day 2023’ to positively impact the communities.

Marking its 15th anniversary this year, Global Volunteer Day is a global initiative by Deutsche Post DHL Group (DPDHL) to positively contribute to the local communities and instill the spirit of volunteerism. Employees and their family members volunteered in various activities such as area clean-ups and providing help to the elderly and individuals with disabilities.

DHL Express Korea Headquarters employees, including ByungKoo Han, Country Manager of DHL Express Korea, formed teams and participated in various volunteer activities in royal palaces Gyeongbokgung and Changdeokgung, including cleaning historical palaces and cultural properties. Employees in other offices across the country – in Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi-do, Chungcheong-do, Gyeongsang-do, and Jeolla-do – also joined several volunteer programs in their local communities by cleaning Banpo Hangang Park, Ttukseom Hangang Park, Gyeongin Port, Hwaseong Haenggung Palace in Suwon, Ochang Lake Park, and Mireuksan Mountain.

ByungKoo Han, Country Manager of DHL Express, said, “We organize Global Volunteer Day annually as we believe it is also important to contribute to the communities we are in. This year is even more meaningful because employees are volunteering in person for the first time since the pandemic. We will continue to come up with more diverse activities to contribute to the development of the local community.”

Annually, over 100,000 employees around the globe voluntarily devote their time to more than 2,000 volunteering projects. For the past 15 years, more than 1.3 million employees have spent over 3.1 million hours contributing to their local communities. DHL Express Korea has successfully engaged in the event with active participation by many employees each year. Last year, considering the COVID-19 pandemic, DHL Express Korea initiated contract-free activities such as raising pet plants and building DHL Express Korea Forest.
