DHL Express, the world’s leading international express service provider, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Korea Importers Association (KOIMA) to promote import and revitalize the country’s trade. The partnership will see DHL Express and KOIMA working together to deepen their support and guidance to import companies located in and outside of Korea.
The Korea Importers Association was established to ensure a stable supply of quality raw materials and components, protect the rights and interests of its member companies, thus expanding trade and export competitiveness of Korea. This non-profit corporation under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy is the only economic organization in Korea specializing in imports.
DHL Express Korea and KOIMA entered into this partnership to leverage each of their respective expertise and boost trade for the country. With this, they will enhance overseas logistics competitiveness and promote imports of KOIMA members.
JiHun (Michael) Han, Managing Director of DHL Express Korea, said, “I am truly pleased that we can support import companies in Korea through this partnership with KOIMA, and through that help to boost the nation’s import sector. We plan to support these companies by fully mobilizing our capabilities and infrastructure, including express delivery service discounts, consulting, education, and site tours. We look forward to active participation from KOIMA member companies.”
One-on-one customized overseas logistics consultation on import and export processes, filling out waybills, and customs requirements designed to enhance the competence of small and medium-sized companies’ employees will be provided both online and offline. Moreover, DHL Express Korea will organize visits to its Incheon Gateway to help KOIMA member companies gain a better understanding of overall import and export logistics flows.
Under this partnership, DHL Express Korea provides special discount offer of up to 60% for export items and minimum 60% for import items – for the association members.
KOIMA will provide information about DHL’s international express delivery services and partnership benefits to its members. Additionally, it will leverage its sales expertise and conduct joint promotional marketing, including online marketing via its website and other channels.
The MOU signing ceremony, held at the KOIMA office located in Seocho-gu, Seoul, on August 25 was attended by JiHun (Michael) Han, Managing Director of DHL Express Korea and YoungMi Youn, Chairman of the KOIMA and other key members of the both parties.
