DHL Supply Chain Launches Its First Fully Renewable Energy Warehouse Powered by Onsite Solar Systems
Press Release: Bangkok, 14 October 2025
- 1.39 billion baht (€35 million) investment supports the new fourth bottom line of DHL Group's Strategy 2030: Green Logistics of Choice
- The latest facility sets a new sustainability standard for DHL Supply Chain's future warehouses
DHL Supply Chain Thailand has officially launched the Bangna Sustainable Logistics Center, the first DHL Supply Chain facility globally to be fully powered by renewable energy powered by on-site solar systems, marking a milestone in sustainable logistics infrastructure in the region. This pioneering facility represents a 1.39 billion baht (€35 million) investment, setting a new benchmark for future DHL Supply Chain operations.
The Bangna Sustainable Logistics Center operates entirely on renewable energy generated on-site, featuring a comprehensive 4.2 MWP solar panel system, covering approximately 24,000 square meters (the size of three professional soccer fields), supported by an advanced battery storage capacity of 10 MWh and smart energy management systems.
Sustainability features include low-water-use appliances and high-efficiency cooling systems, complemented by natural roof skylights. Operations are powered by lithium-ion battery material handling equipment, while sustainable practices extend to sustainable packaging initiatives and comprehensive waste management systems that further minimize environmental impact.
“The opening of the Bangna Sustainable Logistics Center is a significant moment for DHL Supply Chain and the logistics industry. As DHL Supply Chain’s first fully renewable energy warehouse globally, powered by onsite solar systems here in Thailand, it reinforces our aspiration to be the Green Logistics of Choice.

This facility sets the standard for future warehouses in the country. It reflects our confidence in Thailand’s economic future, proving that growth and sustainability can be achieved together through smart innovation.
DHL Supply Chain Thailand’s latest facility also aligns seamlessly with the Thai government’s goal of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
Key Features of Bangna Sustainable Logistics Center
Strategically located on Bangna Trade KM 20, just 18 kilometers from Suvarnabhumi Airport and 26 kilometers from Bangkok Port, the Bangna Sustainable Logistics Center spans over 45,000 square meters across two warehouses. The facilities feature a 14.5-meter clear ceiling height and a 5-ton floor loading capacity. Equipped with both ambient and temperature-controlled zones, the warehouses ensure optimal storage conditions for different types of products, while showcasing sustainable technology solutions across warehousing and transport operations.
Transport solutions at the Bangna Sustainable Logistics Center include electric vehicles powered by 100 percent renewable electricity and optimized route planning through DHL Connected Control Tower. Reinforcing this sustainability transformation, DHL Supply Chain has implemented the Certified GoGreen Specialist program, with its employees trained to champion environmental excellence across its operations in Thailand.
At the heart of the warehouses are three Vertical Lift Module units - enclosed shelf-based storage systems that maximize vertical space while improving throughput and inventory control. These systems connect directly with smart energy management technology and advanced warehouse management systems, ensuring operations run smoothly while delivering clear productivity gains for customers.
The facility’s free trade zone status also brings about strong business advantages for companies looking to expand their operations in the region. With both commercial and industrial licensing in place, businesses can benefit from streamlined customs procedures, duty exemptions, and simplified regulatory processes - all of which significantly reduce operational complexity and costs.
