Road tolls to increase at the turn of the year in Austria, Poland and Hungary
December 30, 2025
Several European countries charge road tolls on heavy goods vehicles. At the turn of the year, road tolls will increase in several countries that are key to DHL Freight, which will affect the cost of road transport. As of 1 January 2026, increases in road tolls will be implemented, among others, in Austria, Poland and Hungary.
Additional changes will also take effect across Europe during the year. For example, in February 2026 Poland will introduce a further increase in road tolls, and at the same time the country’s toll road network will be expanded by a total of 645 kilometres. In Hungary, the toll road network will be expanded in July 2026.
DHL Freight monitors the impacts of road toll changes and takes them into account in transport solutions and cost calculations. For more information on surcharges, such as the impact of road tolls on transport prices, please contact your local sales representative.
