Rail service disruptions cause delays to Central and Southern European shipments
November 02, 2026
Rail service cancellations in Central Europe over the weekend have disrupted international freight flows. The disruptions affected multimodal rail connections between Rostock and Verona, resulting in some loading units being rebooked onto later departures.
As a consequence, significant congestion has accumulated at the Rostock terminal. Recovery measures are underway; however, the backlog may lead to delays in selected import and export shipments to and from Central and Southern Europe over the coming weeks.
DHL Freight is closely monitoring the situation and implementing the necessary measures to minimize the impact on customers' supply chains. Nevertheless, customers are advised to anticipate possible deviations from normal transit times, particularly for shipments routed via Rostock.
The status of your shipment can be monitored through the myDHLFreight portal.
