Italy: Disruption on the Brenner Railway Line Causes Delays to Intermodal Transport

September 09, 2026

A mudslide that occurred on Tuesday evening in South Tyrol, Italy, has disrupted rail traffic on the Brenner railway line between Pflersch and Gossensass. The line is currently closed for safety reasons, and no confirmed information is yet available regarding when traffic will resume.

Several train services on the affected section have been cancelled. The disruption is expected to cause delays to DHL Freight's intermodal transport services operating between Europe and Finland.

DHL Freight is closely monitoring the situation in cooperation with transport operators and partners and is making every effort to minimise the impact of the disruption on customers' shipments. We will keep our customers informed of any developments and potential effects on transport services as the situation progresses.

We sincerely apologize for any delays caused by this situation.
