Disruptions to European Rail Services Due to Track Work in Germany, 12–23 March 2026

March 13, 2026

Track work beginning on 13 March 2026 in Germany may cause delays and capacity restrictions in European rail traffic, which may also affect DHL Freight’s transport services.

Short-notice track work in Germany is causing capacity limitations on the Oberaudorf–Fischbach rail section. During the work, traffic on this section will operate temporarily on a single track, resulting in longer transit times and reduced capacity on several international rail routes.

The impact of the track work extends widely across various connections, including the Verona–Rostock, Verona–Lübeck, Verona–Padborg, and Verona–Herne routes, as well as several other rail services between Germany and Northern Italy. Disruptions are expected to last from 13 to 23 March 2026, during which delays, congestion, and temporary capacity shortages may occur on multiple departures.

In addition, rail-infrastructure safety maintenance in the Dresden region is causing temporary disruptions to the Verona–Rostock route. Due to this work, train 43144 Verona–Rostock scheduled for Thursday, 12 March 2026, has been cancelled. The cancellation has knock-on effects on subsequent departures, as available capacity must be temporarily reorganised..
