DHL Freight moves to a biweekly fuel surcharge update cycle
May 15, 2026
Price fluctuations in the international energy and fuel markets have remained exceptionally strong at the beginning of the year. In particular, geopolitical uncertainty and rapid changes in the oil markets have had a significant impact on diesel price levels in Europe as well as on the operational costs of the transport sector.
In response to the market situation and to ensure the most up-to-date and transparent fuel surcharge model possible, DHL Freight transitioned from a monthly fuel surcharge review to a weekly update cycle as of March 8, 2026.
As the market situation gradually stabilizes, the update practice is now being further adjusted, and DHL Freight will gradually transition to a biweekly fuel surcharge update.
The update schedule will proceed as follows:
• A weekly update will still be carried out on May 17, 2026.
• Starting from May 24, 2026, the fuel surcharge will be updated every two weeks.
The aim of the change is to keep the pricing model aligned with the market while offering customers better predictability through a less frequent and more stable update cycle. The change only concerns the fuel surcharge review schedule. Contract prices and other service terms will remain unchanged.
We will continue to closely monitor market developments and communicate any potential changes openly and proactively. Our goal is to ensure continuity in supply chains and a reliable level of service in all market conditions.
