German Ambassador Visits DHL Express’s New Logistics Center in Vantaa

Press Release: Februrary 13, 2026

German Ambassador to Finland Stephan Auer visited DHL Express’s new logistics center near Helsinki Airport. Finland and Germany are close economic partners, and the visit underscored the essential role logistics plays in supporting bilateral trade, industrial cooperation, and resilient supply chains. DHL Group, one of the world’s leading logistics companies, is listed on the German stock exchange.

The visit was hosted by Oktay Nuri, Managing Director of DHL Express Finland. The Ambassador was accompanied by Andreas Berg, Head of the Economic Department at the German Embassy in Finland.

“Finland and Germany are closely interconnected economic and trade partners. Efficient and reliable logistics is a key prerequisite for the competitiveness of industry, exports, and business operations,” Ambassador Auer said during the visit.

At the heart of the visit was DHL Express’s new logistics center, representing an investment of approximately EUR 100 million and one of the company’s most significant commitments in Finland. The new facility strengthens Finland’s position as a hub for international trade and supports Finnish companies in accessing German and other global markets.

“Our investment in Vantaa reflects DHL Express’s long-term commitment, as a company with German roots, to Finland and to the development of intra-European and global trade,” said Oktay Nuri, Managing Director of DHL Express Finland.

The 16,000-square-meter logistics center is approximately three times larger than the previous facility and has a sorting capacity of up to 6,500 shipments per hour. It employs around 150 people, makes extensive use of automation and artificial intelligence, and is designed to operate in a carbon-neutral manner. Operational security is based on the highest-level TAPA A certification.

During the visit, current trends in international express logistics were presented. Cross-border e-commerce, the strengthening of supply chain resilience, and the accelerating adoption of digitalization and artificial intelligence are rapidly reshaping global trade. Express logistics plays a critical role in time-definite, customs-cleared deliveries and meets the growing demand for fast and reliable international transport solutions.

“Today, the express segment already handles more than 40 percent of global air cargo volumes, underlining its importance for international trade, particularly in a changing geopolitical environment,” said Nuri.
