By acquiring CRYOPDP, a leading specialty healthcare courier, we’re building on our capabilities in specialized pharma logistics to meet the industry’s evolving needs.

DHL Group has acquired CRYOPDP, a specialized courier service for clinical trials, biopharma, and cell & gene therapies. The move is part of our strategy to become a health logistics leader in the fast-growing life sciences and healthcare (LSH) sector.

With 30+ years in health logistics, we have built a broad LSH service portfolio backed by over 11,000 LSH specialists. In 2024, our LSH business generated over €5 billion in global revenue. Adding CRYOPDP’s specialty first and last-mile courier services enhances our capabilities and expands our services in specialized pharma logistics.  

In particular, our DHL Supply Chain division will harness CRYOPDP’s expertise to build on its Pharma Specialized Network, which also utilizes the global air capabilities of our DHL Express and DHL Global Forwarding divisions. The network provides a globally integrated solution for delivering end-to-end distribution to clinical sites, laboratories, hospitals, and patients. It is specifically designed for specialty pharmaceuticals and clinical trials that require precise temperature control – ranging from 2-8°C to cryogenic temperatures as low as -150°C. 

CRYOPDP specializes in “white glove” courier services for time-critical and temperature-sensitive shipments. The services are tailor-made for the LSH sector, which demands utmost care. With operations in 15 countries, the company handles over 600,000 shipments per year, serving customers and patients in over 135 countries worldwide.

DHL Group acquired CRYOPDP from Cryoport, Inc., a global provider of supply chain solutions for the LSH sector. In addition to the deal, we’re forming a strategic partnership with Cryoport to deepen ties between our two companies and leverage each other’s strengths in LSH supply chain services.
