Competitive edge in Coventry: Inside our new e-commerce hub in the UK
As e-commerce continues to soar, staying ahead requires speed, scale, and sustainability, especially in highly competitive markets like the United Kingdom. Find out how our new, state-of-the-art parcel hub in Coventry is primed to help online retailers grow their business.
Meeting high demand and expectations
It’s no secret that e-commerce is booming all over the place, but in Europe, the United Kingdom is leading all other continental e-commerce markets. The latest online retail forecasts call for the rapid growth to continue, with revenue expected to rise from €152 billion in 2024 to €207 billion by 2029.
With increased demand, it gets harder to meet the high expectations of today’s online shoppers, especially in the UK, where consumers are used to next-day deliveries and sustainable services. For retailers, the pressure is on to stand out – to deliver faster, more reliably, and more sustainably.
That’s where we come in – and our new DHL eCommerce parcel hub in Coventry is the latest example of how we are helping our customers meet consumer expectations despite the high demand with future-proof logistics that foster their growth.
Keeping customers ahead of the curve
Innovative and sustainable logistics give online retailers the competitive edge to grow in this dynamic environment. And our new parcel hub in Coventry is designed to do just that.
The state-of-the-art facility, which spans 25,000 square meters, is on a site equal to 22 soccer fields. Inside, the high-speed, automated sorting system allows us to process up to 56,000 parcels an hour.
The hub is also nestled in a prime location near Coventry Airport in the heart of England. From there, we can reach 90% of the country’s population within a four-hour drive.
The location and expanded sorting capacity allow us to consolidate operations from multiple regions at one central site for greater efficiency and sustainability (more on that below). DHL eCommerce can also use the facility to leverage synergies and optimize joint operations with other DHL business units.

Combining our collective strengths
Better serving our customers is at the heart of this new venture. The new Coventry hub is more than a parcel center – it’s a collaboration engine that harnesses the collective strengths of our specialized business units to deliver improved customer experiences.
While DHL eCommerce specializes in domestic and cross-border e-commerce logistics, the team can now work side by side with DHL Express, Supply Chain, and Global Forwarding to streamline the flow of online orders to and from the UK, optimize on-site customs processing, and deliver enhanced end-to-end support. That means faster shipping, smoother operations, and simplified services for customers.
The result: more reliability, more flexibility, and fewer headaches for retailers.
Minimized impact, built-in 7,000 square meters of solar panels can generate over 1,100 megawatt-hours (MWh) of power a year and windows designed to maximize natural light.
A quality workplace Open, sunlit spaces, comfortable rest areas, and entertainment zones create a place where employees – and visiting customers – want to be. A new bus stop right outside the building, bicycle parking, and EV charging stations add convenience.
Ready for tomorrow Pre-installed infrastructure for electric charging stations will minimize disruption and facilitate the future as we add more e-trucks to our fleet.
