We’re partnering with hylane and Daimler Truck to lease new battery-electric trucks. Read on to learn more about this innovative collaboration aimed at making long-distance road transport more sustainable.

Getting long-distance e-trucks on the road faster

DHL Group, hylane, and Daimler Truck are working together to deploy 30 new Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 battery-electric trucks for long-haul transport. hylane, a commercial vehicle rental company, will lease the e-trucks on a “pay-per-use” basis, billing based on kilometers driven. The fully electric trucks are expected to be ready for the road by mid-2026.

“Pay-per-use” provides flexibility and shortens lead times

hylane has become one of the leading zero-emission commercial vehicle rental companies in Europe. By leasing rather than buying the eActros 600, we can acquire a large number of fully electric trucks in a relatively short period of time. The “pay-per-use” model, which is gaining traction in heavy-duty trucking, offers flexibility and scalability, which keeps our business lean and agile. We’re excited to get these award-winning e-trucks out on the road alongside our growing sustainable fleet.

The partnership underscores our commitment to advancing e-mobility in the transport sector and taking further steps toward zero-emission logistics.

Power meets efficiency: the Mercedes-Benz eActros 600

The new eActros 600 – the International Truck of the Year 2025 – is not only a powerful electric truck, but also a profitable one. Capable of traveling around 500 kilometers on a single charge, the e-vehicle is well-suited for long-distance road freight operations. We see potential to cover over 1,000 kilometers per day if our drivers can charge during mandatory breaks. Equipped with durable lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) batteries and an innovative electric drive axle, the eActros 600 has proven itself in road tests across Europe.

Decarbonizing long-distance road logistics

The collaboration brings together a trifecta of talents to tackle one of the biggest sustainability challenges in overland transport. The long-haul segment is responsible for two-thirds of all CO2 emissions from heavy road freight transport in Europe. By combining hylane’s flexible leasing solutions, Daimler Truck’s flagship technology, and DHL’s logistics expertise, we can accelerate the transition to more sustainable long-distance freight transport. Three innovators working together to drive change.

The 30 new eActros 600 trucks will join 16 other heavy-duty electric trucks and over 32,400 e-vans in our growing sustainable fleet. It’s all part of our very deliberate approach to decarbonization.

This is an impressive vote of confidence in our technology – and a clear commitment to change. Together, we are making an important contribution to the electrification of long-distance transport.
