The evolving security situation in the Middle East is currently affecting global supply chains and also has repercussions on road transport within Europe.
The use of alternative routes, changes in security measures, and fluctuations in fuel prices may cause variations in transport costs as well as delivery lead times.
DHL Freight is closely monitoring the situation. Our objective is to anticipate changes in the most efficient and transparent way possible and to minimise their impact on your supply chains.
Fuel price increases: immediate impacts
The most immediate effects are being observed in the rise of fuel prices. Fuel is a key cost factor, especially for long‑haul transportation.
Due to the exceptional situation, DHL Freight will temporarily switch to weekly updates of the fuel surcharge. The objective of this measure is to ensure that fuel prices used for transport reflect current conditions, which are evolving rapidly.
- The fuel surcharge will be updated every Friday.
- The updated surcharge will apply during the following week.
With this approach, we aim to guarantee a transparent pricing policy that helps customers operate in a rapidly changing environment. We will continue providing clear information on any new developments.
