2026-09-09 - DHL Freight: Risk of Traffic Disruptions in the Balkans Due to Announced Border Blockade

There is a risk of transport disruptions between Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia and the EU from 14 September 2026 due to an announced border blockade.

Truck drivers from the four countries have announced a potential blockade of border crossings to and from the EU. The action is being planned in protest against the EU's decision to introduce changes to visa regulations affecting individuals carrying out commercial transport operations between these countries and the EU.

The blockade is scheduled to begin on 14 September 2026. If implemented, it may cause delays and disruptions to freight transport services. At this stage, it remains unclear whether the blockade will go ahead and how long any potential impact on traffic flows may last.
