DHL FREIGHT PREPARES FOR A SMOOTH AND GREEN BLACK FRIDAY

Press Release: Stockholm, 10/27/2020

The high volumes of parcels and shipments during the intense shopping period Black Friday, starting on November 27th, puts great demand on DHL Freight's transport chain. Through solid transport and capacity planning together with our customers, DHL Freight is gearing up to make the Black Friday period both smoother and greener.

Quality of delivery is important to us. We work hard to deliver high quality and fulfill our customer promises where our reinforcements for Black Friday and Christmas shopping are an important part, says Lena Arvidsson, VP, Terminal Based Operations in Sweden.

This is how DHL prepares for Black Friday:

  • Added transport capacity with more vehicles and drivers
  • Increased number of staff in the sorting facilities
  • Extended opening hours before Christmas for DHL Freight's service points at terminals
  • A temporarily expanded network with more DHL service Points compared to 2019
  • More than 100 parcel boxes deployed around the country
  • Identification trough mobile BankID (link in all SMS and e-mail notifications) for faster parcel delivery and reduced queues
  • Added number of notifications to customers to reduce storage time and thus lack of space at our DHL agents

With the increase in the number of deliveries during Black Friday, DHL Freight wants to take the opportunity to remind customers of the importance of sending green transports. DHL Freight makes it easy for customers to make an active environmental choice through a green option called SKICKA GRÖNT. The service costs SEK 5 incl. VAT for one or more packages in the same shipment, or SEK 49 incl. VAT if you send one or more pallets in the same shipment up to 2500 kg. It is a green option that is applicable for all shipments within Sweden. The income goes in full to investing in conversion to fossil-free technology and climate-smart transport.

With SKICKA GRÖNT we contribute to a climate-smart transformation of the transport industry in Sweden, together with our customers and carriers. Until the last of December this year, we at DHL will also double the investments our customers make when they buy SKICKA GRÖNT, says Mattias Nyström, VP Marketing and Sales, DHL Freight Sweden.
