DHL Boosts Sweden Network With SEK 2bn Strategic E-Commerce Investment
Press Release: May 28, 2026
DHL Group is ramping up its investment in Sweden, committing at least 2 billion SEK to e-commerce logistics over the next two years. The move is aimed at strengthening its e-commerce capabilities by expanding network accessibility, increasing capacity, and extending reach, making it easier to serve consumers nationwide.
The investment includes new terminals, upgrades to existing facilities, expanded sorting capacity, and a significant rollout of the parcel locker network. Up to 5,000 new DHL parcel locker locations will be added across Sweden. Combined with existing infrastructure, this will result in a network of up to 7,000 out-of-home locations, giving DHL Freight one of the broadest-commerce delivery footprints in Sweden.
“This marks a decisive shift in our ambition for Sweden”, said Robert Zander, CEO DHL Freight Sweden. “We are scaling up our investment to expand our network at a completely different scale to take a leading position. For e-commerce businesses and consumers alike, success comes down to capacity, proximity and delivery precision. That is where we aim to lead.”
The Swedish expansion is part of DHL Group’s broader push to grow its out-of-home network across Europe, where it already operates more than 170,000 access points – like parcel shops and lockers. DHL and its partners plan to add up to 20,000 lockers across Europe in the next 12–18 months.
“Our investment enables us to offer the market a stronger and more competitive proposition, combining higher operational capacity with improved accessibility and service”, said Robert Zander.
In Sweden, the investment is designed to support the full spectrum of the market – from international players to large and small Swedish e-commerce businesses and marketplaces seeking simple, scalable, and cost-efficient logistics solutions.
Both business customers and end consumers are expected to benefit from the planned innovations and investments. Initial results will likely e are projected to become visible over the course of this year.
