DHL EXPRESS TAIWAN AND CHIMEI CORPORATION REACH GOGREEN PLUS AGREEMENT WITH AN AMBITIOUS GOAL OF 100% CARBON EMISSION REDUCTION RATE

Press Release: Taipei, 23, October 2023

DHL Express, the world’s leading international express service provider, announced today that CHIMEI Corporation, a global leading performance materials company based in Taiwan, has entered into an agreement to become DHL Express’ first customer in Taiwan to reduce 100% carbon emissions via sustainable aviation fuel.

The GoGreen Plus service supports CHIMEI’s ambitious goal to reduce the carbon emissions of its international shipments by 100 percent year-on-year, accelerating the customer’s sustainability commitment of achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

James Kuo, Commercial Vice President of DHL Express Taiwan, said, “DHL is leading the efforts to promote sustainable logistics. We know our customers are committed to reducing their environmental impact and seeking sustainable logistics solutions. We proudly introduced the GoGreen Plus service to help our customers make their supply chains more sustainable.”

“CHIMEI Corporation is an industry leader and has been a pioneer in pursuing sustainable development.  We are excited about working with CHIMEI on their ambitious goal in the sustainable journey, and we look forward to promoting sustainble logistics together,” he said.

For over 30 years, DHL Express Taiwan is CHIMEI’s logistics partner for delivery of products and services to customers worldwide. CHIMEI’s use of GoGreen Plus applies across all its overseas trade lanes.

“At CHIMEI, it’s our vision to be a ‘Clean & Green’ company. We are committed to creating a sustainable value chain and pursuing innovative actions in our daily operations,” CHIMEI Corporation Vice President David Wang said.

“We are glad to learn that DHL has opened new possibilities of sustainable logistics through the GoGreen Plus service. CHIMEI will continue to deepen cooperation with our partners and work together to achieve the zero-emission goal.”

The GoGreen Plus service is part of DHL Group's sustainability goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.  Insetting through GoGreen Plus allows customers to reduce their

Scope 3 emissions, the indirect greenhouse gas emissions that occur in a company's value chain, including downstream transportation and distribution.

Unlike offsetting initiatives, GoGreen Plus (insetting) reduces emissions within the logistics sector and therewith can be used for DHL customers’ own voluntary emission reporting and follows the Science Based Target Initiative (SBTi) philosophy.
