DHL SUPPLY CHAIN EMPLOYEES RUN TO HELP CHILDREN AND THE ENVIRONMENT
Press Release: Warsaw, 29 September 2021

In mid-September over 400 employees of one of the largest providers of contract logistics participated in the first charitable DHL Supply Chain CEE Run 2021. Thanks to the event, help will be provided to SOS Wioski Dziecięce organization. In addition, nearly 1,000 trees will be planted. DHL Supply Chain initiated and organized the run.
The charity run, taking place on 19 September in four countries – Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary, is part of the GOGREEN sustainable development strategy and corporate social responsibility. Through these strategies, the global logistics company focuses on non-business initiatives aimed at helping those in need and building relations with the surrounding environment as well as caring for nature and promoting healthy and active lifestyle. In the course of the run, EUR 2,100 was raised. DHL Supply Chain will transfer these funds to this year’s beneficiary – SOS Wioski Dziecięce organization. The project also assumed that the company would plant one tree for each 10 kilometres covered. The total reached by the running logisticians at the finish line will allow for 214 trees to be planted. Moreover, as part of GoGreen – the company’s own initiative, DHL Supply Chain will reward the employees’ efforts by planting another 200 trees in each of the countries. This means that additional 800 trees will be planted in the four countries thanks to our employees.
“Working with us teaches that there is more to life than results and money. Each day we do our best to ensure our employees maintain a healthy work-life balance. We support them in developing passions and interests. As a company, we also know how to help others, support bottom-up initiatives and promote sports and caring for the environment we share. This is why we organized the run – so that the employees and teams can come together to help others all while competing in the spirit of fair-play,” said Andries Retief, CEO Central and Eastern Europe, DHL Supply Chain.
Over 400 runners participated in the virtual run, which required prior registration in a dedicated application measuring distance covered and calories burnt. In total, DHL Supply Chain employees covered 2,150 kilometres in almost 230 hours.
