THE DISTINGUISHED COMPANY INVESTS IN GREEN TRANSPORTS

Their history stretches back 80 years. For just as long, sustainability has been on the agenda for the company Ankarsrum, where deliveries play an import part. They now send everything with DHL Freight, which with its service SKICKA GRÖNT contributes to more green deliveries.

- This is very important when we talk to customers, says Mikaela Thörn at Ankarsrum Kitchen AB.

In 1940, Electrolux launched the new kitchen machine Assistant Original which was adapted to Swedish conditions and Swedish cooking culture. The instruction manual An assistant in the kitchen that came with it presented the kitchen machine’s nine working modes; whisk, mix, knead, mash, stir, grind, grate, making sausages and strain.

Now, 80 years later, it is still found in many homes around the world.
- It is made in Sweden, which is unique. And it has a very good reputation because of its quality. Every now and then people contact us and want to order a new accessory for a machine they bought in the 60’s. We want them to pass on from generation to generation, says Mikaela Thörn.

Sustainablility all the way

For the company behind the success, Ankarsrum Kitchen AB, sustainability is key. The machine is made of one hundred percent recycled aluminum. The mill where the machine has been made since the start, Ankarsrum mill, is powered one hundred percent by wind power.  We work continuously to be as sustainable as possible.

Part of the sustainability work is to use as climate-smart deliveries as possible. That’s why they use DHL Freight’s SKICKA GRÖNT service. SKICKA GRÖNT is DHL Freight’s climate-smart option where customers are offered a fossil-free* transport alternative within Sweden. When the customers choose SKICKA GRÖNT, DHL Freight produces the equivalent tonne-kilometer that the shipment gives rise to with a more expensive climate-smart technology somewhere in its domestic transport network. The income goes in full to compensate the hauliers for the additional cost when they invest in climate-smart vehicles and fuels.

SKICKA GRÖNT thus contributes to a faster adjustment of the Swedish transport system and that our hauliers dare to take the risk that a more expensive climate-smart technology entails. As a customer, you can credit the reduction**, says Maria Nilsson Öhman, sustainability manager at DHL Freight.

** The reduction in carbon dioxide is reported in the emissions report. The issue report is a service that can be ordered for anyone who has a customer number at DHL Freight,
