And the edward goes to …
At a ceremony with Hollywood charm, the DHL Hub Leipzig won a prize for its apprenticeship work.
It is an evening in March 2023. The guests in smart attire are gathering on a red carpet. Everyone is excited about the event and wondering if they can take home a trophy this year.
Is this about the Oscars? "It definitely felt like that for me. The event did not take place in Los Angeles, but in Leipzig. But for us, edward is at least as important,” explains Britta Böhme-Hrushchak from the LEJ Hub vocational training coordination.
Every two years, the Leipzig Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) awards the edward prize to companies for their vocational training and further education work. This year, the LEJ Hub was one of the nominees in the category companies with more than 250 employees.
Together with her colleagues Thomas Fischer (Team Leader Commercial Apprenticeships) and Yvonne Höft (Director Recruiting & Employer Branding), Britta attended the award ceremony on behalf of the DHL Hub Leipzig.
And what should not be missing at an event à la Hollywood? A nomination film that introduced the companies before the award ceremony.
Our training stars were already in front of the camera in February. Leonie Hintringer, an office management trainee, was also there: “During our vocational training, we get to know almost all areas of the site. Now we were not only allowed to look behind the scenes of a film production, but were even in the limelight ourselves. That was really exciting, but it was also fun,” Leonie recalls.
At the DHL Hub Leipzig sometimes, as in almost every action film, every second counts, so that the shipment is loaded on time and sent from Leipzig to customers all over the world.
So who needs Hollywood actors and stunt doubles when the employees at the LEJ Hub play the main roles.
The result of the shooting, a film that not only gives an insight into our vocational training, but also makes it clear: Our training is worthy an edward.
This is exactly what convinced the jury and the DHL Hub Leipzig took first place for the second time. The main reasons for this were, among other things, the location's commitment to vocational training and further education, the offers of career orientation, the competence of the vocational trainers and the training quota.
“DHL attaches great importance to training and the number of our trainees has risen steadily in recent years. We owe the fact that we were able to win this important prize for the second time to a committed team, for whom the work with the young colleagues is very important,” emphasizes Britta, who proudly received the prize together with her colleagues.
