Dominique Hesse  works as a trainer and performance expert in the QCC (Quality Control Center) and, together with her team, supervised the assignment at the LEJ Hub. "The special feature of this election was that the documents were not sent to embassies as usual, but directly to the registered voters," she explains.

A total of around a quarter of a million albanian people had registered for the election. A logistical challenge for the worldwide express network and especially for the LEJ Hub. "We received the order at relatively short notice and therefore had little time to prepare," reports Dominique. “We couldn't handle the additional volume of shipments on our regular flights, so we used additional charter flights.”

In the days leading up to May 11, the time pressure increased significantly once again: The completed election documents had to arrive in Tirana in time to be taken into account in the count. "This is not the first time that DHL Express has supported a postal vote," says Dominique. "But on this scale, it was definitely a premiere."
