Surcharges for Freight Shipping

On this page you will find information about DHL fuel surcharges applied in various transport forms.

Air Freight

The airlines debit a fuel surcharge based on the world market price for Kerosine/jet fuel, which DHL debits as a separate position.

As of March 11, 2024, fuel surcharge for air freight export from Finland is 0.95 EUR / kg based on chargeable freight weight. No additional security surcharge is charged.

More information available from DHL Global Forwarding sales.

Ocean Freight

The shipping companies debit bunker surcharge (Bunker Adjustment Factor, BAF), which is based on the world market price of bunker oil. Usually BAF is included in the freight rates, but in some cases it may appear as a separate item in the DHL Global Forwarding quotation.

Domestic pickups and deliveries

Fuel surcharges related to domestic pickups and deliveries are debited as a separate position by DHL Global Forwarding.

The fuel surcharge for domestic transports is 52.00 % for FCL (as of January 1, 2024) and 34.30% for LCL (as of May 1, 2024).
