Disruptions Continue Across the Central European Transport Network

July 29, 2026

Significant disruptions continue to affect the Central European transport network, impacting the smooth flow of international shipments in several traffic lanes. The situation has remained challenging in recent weeks, and in some areas the effects have intensified.

The disruptions are caused by a combination of infrastructure-related issues, exceptional weather conditions, and operational challenges affecting transport network capacity. The impacts are being felt across the European transport network and are also affecting terminal operations.

The situation remains particularly challenging in traffic to and from Italy, but disruptions are also being experienced elsewhere within the Central and Eastern European transport network.

In addition, wildfires in Spain and France are causing disruptions to regional traffic and transportation. A national state of emergency has been declared in the Madrid region, while extensive wildfires in the Bordeaux area are also affecting traffic flows.

As a result of these disruptions, transit times have increased significantly in certain traffic lanes, and reliable delivery time commitments cannot currently be provided for all shipments. Temporary receiving restrictions and congestion may also occur at terminals across Central Europe.

We kindly ask our customers to take this exceptional situation into account when planning their supply chains and to allow additional time for international shipments routed through Central Europe.

DHL Freight continues to closely monitor developments and is actively implementing measures to minimize the impact of the disruptions and secure transport capacity wherever possible.

Customers will be informed separately of any delays, cancellations, or other exceptions affecting individual shipments in accordance with normal procedures.

We will update this bulletin as the situation develops.
