Central Europe: Infrastructure faults and weather conditions disrupt international transport
June 30, 2026
Damage to rail infrastructure and exceptional weather conditions are currently causing significant disruptions to international transport in Central Europe. The situation is particularly severe in Italy and is affecting rail connections between Germany and Italy, as well as the broader network of rail operator TX Logistik.
As a result of these disruptions, the international transport network in Central Europe is experiencing a high number of train cancellations and delays. At present, only a limited number of trailers are arriving at key hubs such as Verona, which has led to a shortage of equipment in Italy. Consequently, reliable delivery and loading schedules for shipments to and from Italy cannot currently be guaranteed.
In addition, congestion is occurring within the Central European transport network in both southbound and northbound traffic.
DHL Freight is actively implementing measures to mitigate the impact of the disruptions and to secure transport capacity wherever possible. Due to the disruptions, delays in DHL Freight shipments are possible. Customers will be informed separately, in line with standard practice, of any delays or cancellations affecting individual shipments.
Customers are advised to take the exceptional situation into account when planning their supply chains, particularly regarding traffic to and from Italy.
We will update the information as the situation evolves.
