DHL Supply Chain Australia Expands Network in South Australia

Press Release: Adelaide, September 16, 2025

  • Breaks ground on new Edinburgh Park facility that will feature ambient, temperature-controlled, and cold chain storage options to support its Life Sciences & Healthcare network
  • Investing in freight network and multi-sector warehouse capacity for national and local customers

DHL Supply Chain Australia (DHL) has announced the groundbreaking of its state-of-the-art transport and warehousing facility in Edinburgh Park, South Australia. The facility will feature sustainable elements such as EV charging for DHL’s growing electric truck and van fleet, a rooftop solar array, LED lighting, a solar hot water system, and an intelligent building management system to minimise power usage. Due for completion in Q3 2026, the new site represents increased investment to support local and national customers operating in South Australia, with 20,000 square meters of additional warehouse and office space.

The site consolidates DHL’s three existing facilities into one central sustainable depot and will serve DHL’s customers in the retail, technology, consumer, life sciences and healthcare sectors.

DHL Supply Chain Australia & New Zealand CEO Steve Thompsett said this site is a key part of the company’s focus on strengthening national service offerings for existing and new customers.

“DHL offers 100% network coverage across Australia, and we are investing in Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth to expand services for our customers in these areas,” Thompsett said.

“We’re committed to continued growth in South Australia, and this multi-sector, carbon-neutral warehouse will support a wide range of customers with their business requirements as well as sustainable supply chain goals. I’m particularly pleased that under the aegis of DHL Health Logistics, we’re bringing the highest quality Life Sciences and Healthcare storage and transport solutions to Adelaide,” Thompsett added.

Highlighting the significance of the new site, DHL Supply Chain Australia & New Zealand SVP Transport Bill Rolfe said, “We’re excited to bring a cutting-edge facility that will meet the evolving needs of our customers and create new job opportunities.”

“The investment in the South Australia underpins our commitment to fostering positive industry development, empowering our workforce, and enhancing the capabilities of our teams,” Rolfe added.

Expanded domestic freight services

The Edinburgh Park site will also act as the South Australian Transport Hub for DHL and allows for expanded domestic freight services. The expanded service offers national road freight transport options for dedicated fleet or a shared network for cartons, pallets, skids, and others.

DHL’s Edinburgh Park site is being built by the leading Australian construction company, FDC.
