Ocean Freight Port Situation Update

August 2026

Explore the latest developments at key ocean ports worldwide.

Regional Port Highlights:

Americas

  • Port operations across the Americas remain largely stable, with localized congestion, weather-related disruptions, vessel schedule variability, and isolated equipment shortages causing moderate delays in selected gateways, while inland transportation networks generally remain unaffected.

Europe

  • European port operations remain generally stable but under pressure from moderate congestion, inland transport constraints linked to rail infrastructure works and low river water levels, localized equipment shortages, and weather-related risks impacting parts of the regional supply chain.

Middle East & Africa

  • Regional conditions are mixed, with stable operations across much of West and Southern Africa, while parts of North Africa, the Gulf, and East Africa continue to face significant delays driven by infrastructure constraints, security measures, berthing congestion, and inland transportation challenges, although equipment availability remains generally stable.

Asia-Pacific

  • Asia Pacific remains largely stable with good equipment availability and only minor localized operational disruptions; however, severe weather impacts in China continue to cause port congestion, schedule disruptions, vessel evacuations, and extended delays across parts of the regional network.
