Steven A. Altman

TITLE: Senior Research Scholar at the NYU Stern School of Business and Adjunct Assistant Professor in NYU Stern’s Department of Management and Organizations

BIO: Steven A. Altman is a Senior Research Scholar at the NYU Stern School of Business and an Adjunct Assistant Professor in NYU Stern’s Department of Management and Organizations. Steve is also the Director of the DHL Initiative on Globalization at NYU Stern’s Center for the Future of Management. Steve’s research focuses on globalization and its implications for business strategy and public policy. He examines how cross-country differences and distances shape flows of goods and services, capital, information, and people, measures how they vary across countries and over time, and analyzes implications for business and public policy. Prior to joining NYU Stern, Steve was a Senior Research Associate and Lecturer at IESE Business School in Barcelona, Spain. He brings to his research extensive experience consulting with companies on international and emerging market strategies across a variety of industries and geographic regions. He has also managed the development of several teaching and decision- making tools. Steve holds a PhD from the University of Reading, an MBA from the Harvard Business School, an MPA from Harvard's John F. Kennedy School of Government, and a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.

Dorte Andersen Friis

Dorte is based in UNICEF Supply Headquarters in Copenhagen and manages the team responsible for UNICEF’s Private Sector Partnership efforts related to supply. Supply and supply chains are key for enhancing children’s rights – and her team focuses on collaboration with the private sector that enhance access to essential supplies and services needed for children and their families to survive and thrive. Partnerships include bilateral partnerships such as with DHL, UPS, Port of Antwerp-Bruges, CMA-CGM, Flexport and various airlines but also multistakeholder engagements including through World Economic Forum. With the latter, Dorte is coordinating UNICEF’s engagement in the Charter for Humanitarian Supply Chain Resilience as well as the Global Supply Resilience Initiative.

Dorte joined UNICEF in 2020 at the early onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Prior to this, she worked with UN World Food Programme in Mozambique, Southern Africa and with HQ in Rome, focusing on how to optimize humanitarian logistics in humanitarian operations and in emergency response through inter-agency collaboration, preparedness efforts, and design of new approaches to delivering humanitarian assistance. Leveraging the logistics capacity of private and public actors to more effectively and sustainably meet needs was core to the work.

Prior to joining WFP, Dorte worked in the private sector as Business Development Manager and programs related to development of business and management capacity. Dorte holds a Master of Science in International Business and Development and lives in Copenhagen with her husband and three kids.

Chelsea Baldino

TITLE: Senior Researcher
COMPANY: International Council on Clean Transportation
BIO: Chelsea is a Senior Researcher on the ICCT Fuels team in Berlin and co-cluster coordinator for the Hydrogen and Fuel Cells Cluster. Chelsea’s research focuses on opportunities to reduce the greenhouse gas impact of liquid and gaseous fuels in Europe and Indonesia. Her recent studies include an analysis of the potential for used cooking oil exports from Asia, an assessment of renewable fuel production for the marine, road and aviation sectors in the EU in 2030 under “Fit for 55” ambition, and an overview of biofuels that would comply with the ReFuelEU aviation regulation.

Prior to her work at the ICCT, Chelsea was a research assistant for the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, Massachusetts, where she conducted experiments assessing greenhouse gas emissions and nutrient cycling in soil warming plots. She holds a Master of Environmental Management in Environmental Economics and Policy from Duke University and a B.A. in Environmental Sciences and Economics from Northwestern University.

Christian Boos

Christian Boos is Head of Sustainability Innovation Engagement at SAP. In this role, he and his team early value proof new innovation to help companies develop sustainable business models in close collaboration with customers, academia, and governments. Christian Boos has more than 20 years of experience in consulting and business development as well as a deep understanding how digitalization improves processes and peoples live.

Simon Braaksman

After obtaining his MBA, Simon started his career in Finance with Citibank where he held various positions. In 1998, his largest customer, Philips asked if he wanted to join the company to implement his recommendations to Philips. After 8 years in treasury, Simon moved to a Finance transformation project, then joined Group Control, and 15 years ago moved to Group Sustainability. He is responsible for the company’s internal and external ESG reporting, the relation with Philips’ ESG investors, and Philips Climate Action program. Simon also co-chairs the ESG working group in the Dutch Accounting Standards Board, and sits on EFRAG’s Sustainability Reporting Board.

Ariel Bramble

Ariel is a Senior Manager working with the world's leading circular economy network at the Ellen MacArthur Foundation. The Foundation's Network brings together businesses, policymakers, innovators, universities, cities, philanthropic organisations and thought leaders to build and scale a circular economy. Ariel previously worked as a Senior Associate at GrantTree in London, helping innovative start-ups acquire R&D funding - many of them investing in circular solutions. Ariel relocated to London in 2018, following over 7 years in Washington, DC within the international development NGO sector.

Alexandru Buzatu

Kathrin Brost

BIO: Kathrin Brost has >20 years of experience in the logistics industry. She has been leading DHL Global Forwarding’s environmental protection (GoGreen) department since 2009. ​
In her previous role as project manager for DHL Consulting - the internal management consultancy of DHL - Kathrin worked in international projects in the area of performance improvement, customer service, strategy and business development.​

Alexandru Buzatu

BIO:Alexandru, 47 years old, graduate in Law of the Romanian American University of Bucharest (Romania), joined TotalEnergies in 2005. 

Since September 2021, Alexandru is the Managing Director Europe for Distributed Generation (DG) within TotalEnergies. Operating in 30 countries worldwide and 11 countries in Europe, the DG Business Unit has recently reached a new milestone with the signature of 1 GW of green Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) for self-consumption on the sites of its B2B customers. 

From 2005 to 2010 Alexandru held the position of Commercial Director for TotalEnergies in Romania in charge of the sales, marketing, and technical assistance departments. After 3 years spent in Paris, France within the Group Audit & Internal Control Division, he moved to Moscow, Russia in 2014 for a new assignment as Commercial Director developing marketing activities in Russia, Belarus, and Azerbaijan. Between 2018 and 2021, he was appointed Managing Director of TotalEnergies Marketing Nordics, a Hub with 4 subsidiaries responsible for the marketing activities in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland. 

Prior to TotalEnergies he worked for other companies in FMCG and automotive spare-parts markets.

Dr Phil Brown

TITLE: VP of Business Development & Strategy

BIO: Phil is the Vice President of Business Development and Strategy at Circularise. He supports Circularise’s partners to integrate circular oriented innovation strategies and helps to translate blockchain capabilities into decision-making processes to scale Circular Supply Chains. He holds a PhD in Collaborative Circular Oriented Innovation from Delft University of Technology and an M.Sc. from Cranfield University in Environmental Management for Business. He has over 10 years experience across research, consultancy and start-up development within the areas of circular economy; collaborative innovation networks, business models, and supply chain management.

Katja Busch

BIO: Since February 2018 Katja Busch has been responsible for the Sales Organization “DHL Customer Solutions & Innovation” as Chief Commercial Officer & Head of CSI at DHL Group.
From January 2013 – January 2018 Katja Busch was Chief Sales Officer (CSO) DHL Parcel Germany in the Post – eCommerce – Parcel division. Prior to this she was Divisional Board Member for DHL Parcel for over six years in the Mail division at Deutsche Post AG responsible for domestic sales including customer service for Parcel. Appointed CSO DHL Parcel Germany in 2013, Busch assumed overall responsibility for customer service for both Mail and Parcel business units, including 22 call centers operated by Deutsche Post Customer Service GmbH. From March 2014 – January 2018 she headed international customer service for the Group’s Post – eCommerce – Parcel division. In August 2016 she also assumed responsibility for the newly created Global eCom* Key Account Management unit.
Following an education in natural sciences, Busch spent seven years in various sales roles at TNT Express Germany before moving to DHL Group in 1997. After serving as service branch head and business department head, she was appointed Head

Michael C. Bush

Tim Christophersen - Salesforce

Tim Christophersen joined Salesforce as VP, Climate Action in May 2022. Within the global Sustainability Team, he is focused on the role of nature-based solutions to climate change. Tim is based in Denmark.

Before joining Salesforce, Tim was Head of the ‘Nature for Climate’ Branch at the United Nations Environment Programme(UNEP), and led a growing global movement backed by all UN Member States and over 120 partner organizations to ‘ prevent, halt and reverse the degradation of ecosystems worldwide ’: the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration 2021-2030

He holds a degree in Forestry and Forest Conservation Engineering from Dresden University of Technology. He previously worked for the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), where he led the portfolio on the conservation and sustainable use of forest biodiversity. From 2017-2019, he was elected Chair of the Global Partnership on Forest and Landscape Restoration.

From 2002-2007 he was Regional Programme Coordinator for Europe, the Caucasus and the Commonwealth of Independent States at the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN). He also worked for the Danish Ministry of the Environment, and for the European Commission.

Mary Child - Nespresso UK&I

Mary Child is Sustainability Lead for the UK and Republic of Ireland (ROI) at Nespresso - a certified B Corp™.

She is responsible for driving the brand’s sustainability actions forward in the UK & ROI; from developing its roadmap towards carbon neutrality and beyond to net zero, to leading Podback - the UK’s first industry-wide recycling programme for coffee capsules - on behalf of Nespresso. Mary is also a UK representative on sustainability, both within the global Nespresso sustainability network and for the British Coffee Association.

Jon Davis

TITLE: Chief Meteorologist
COMPANY: Everstream Analytics
BIO: Jon leads Everstream Analytics weather and climate division for energy, agriculture, and supply chain logistics. Based in Barcelona, Spain Jon brings over 35 years of experience and is widely considered one of the foremost experts on the impact of weather and climate on global commodities and business.
After graduating from the University of Wisconsin (Madison) with a degree in meteorology, he spent 18 years on Wall Street in the commodity divisions within Citigroup (Chief Meteorologist) and 11 at Chesapeake Energy (Chief Meteorologist).
In 2015, Jon was given the prestigious Award for the Outstanding Contribution to the Advance of Applied Meteorology by the AMS (American Meteorological Society).  In 2017, Jon was awarded the Kenneth C. Spengler Award for outstanding vision to advance the role of meteorology in the new energy economy and outstanding leadership of the AMS Energy Committee and its conference. 

Elewout Depicker

TITLE: VP, Commercial & Corporate Development, EMEA
COMPANY: Li-Cycle
BIO: As VP, Commercial & Corporate Development, Elewout is responsible for overseeing Li-Cycle’s battery supply chain, managing new and existing customer relationships, and the execution of Li-Cycle’s business development strategy for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Prior to joining Li-Cycle, Elewout was Business Head Lithium, Manganese, Additives and Supply Chain Management at Umicore’s Rechargeable Battery Materials division. In that role, he oversaw the sourcing portfolio of all battery materials going into Umicore’s PCAM and CAM products. Elewout also has extensive experience in the marketing and commercialization of specialty battery chemicals after having led Umicore’s integrated battery supply chain. In addition to Elewout’s 10 years of experience in battery supply chain and commercial business development, he also holds a Master of Commercial Engineering from Ghent University.

Amadou Diallo

Since June 2017 Amadou Diallo is CEO of DHL Global Forwarding Middle East & Africa. He is the founder of Saloodo! GmbH. He was previously CEO DHL Freight, CEO Africa and South Asia Pacific DHL Global Forwarding and prior to this Chief Financial Officer of DHL Logistics Divisions and Managing Director for the integration of Exel and DHL. Mr. Diallo has more than 25 years of experience in the tourism, banking, express and logistics industries. He is Senegalese and is fluent in several languages including English, German, French, Fulani, Wolof and Spanish. Mr. Diallo is Chairman of Amref in Germany and in the boards of Welthungerhilfe, Africa 2.0, Schiller International University

Marieme Diallo

Marieme Diallo is based in UNICEF’s Supply Headquarters in Copenhagen, where she and her team are responsible for optimizing and enabling UNICEF’s logistics activities in the countries where UNICEF operates, management of the UNICEF’s 3PL freight forwarding contracts as well as carriers’ relationship, and finally how to promote sustainability across these pillars. 

Marieme has more than 17 years of experience related to supply chain management in humanitarian and emergency contexts. She has worked in various emergency responses and has a strong knowledge of humanitarian response, mostly in conflict and post-conflict contexts. In everything she has worked with her focus has been on improving goods and service delivery in a complex environment, so that supplies reach the most vulnerable despite multiple logistics challenges including access issues. 

She holds a master's degree in Human Sciences and speaks seven languages. During her professional career, she has worked with NGOs and several UN agencies across the globe.

Juergen Distl

TITLE: CFO of Mercedes-Benz Trucks and Head of MB Truck Operations
COMPANY: Mercedes-Benz Trucks
BIO: Jürgen Distl joined the Daimler Group in 2003 and worked in various functions in Finance & Controlling department for Mercedes-Benz Trucks until 2009. In 2009 he became Chief Finance Officer of Mercedes-Benz Special Trucks. From 2012 to 2019, Jürgen Distl held various senior Finance positions at Daimler Truck North America, Mercedes-Benz Passenger Cars and the Daimler Truck Global Powertrain division. As CFO of Mercedes-Benz Trucks, Jürgen Distl has been responsible for all financial matters at Mercedes-Benz Trucks since the end of 2019. In addition to this role, he took over the responsibility as Head of Operations Mercedes-Benz Trucks in the beginning of 2023. 

Alexandru Eftimiu

BIO: Alex is the VP of the Fleet Business, a part of the Mobility & Convenience entity in Europe. Alex’s team is managing a large portfolio of customers, focused on serving their mobility needs, supporting them in navigating their decarbonization journeys and creating integrated end to end offers to enable efficient and effective fleet management for their customers. 

 

He’s been with bp for 12 years, having previously led different regions or channels with Castrol, across OEM, IKAM and Distributors spaces. Within his team, Alex had owned the development of the Castrol business with Amazon before to moving to his current role. Prior to bp, he spent 10 years with Bosch across a variety of business units and has also worked for P&G. 

Dr. Michael Feindt - Blue Yonder

Dr. Michael Feindt has his dream job. A rock star in the world of artificial intelligence (AI), Michael is a physicist and data scientist who is constantly thinking about how algorithms can be developed, improved and advanced to not only benefit businesses, but improve the world. He believes that with good decisions and Blue Yonder’s solutions, companies can do more around sustainability and minimizing their CO2 imprint.

As strategic advisor, his role at Blue Yonder is to continually research how AI and machine learning can be used to improve supply chains. As a data scientist, he is relentlessly curious and enjoys gaining a deep understanding of a customer’s business and how AI/ML can help solve their problems to gain positive results.

Idoia Galindo

Idoia Galindo, CEO of Transfesa Logistics, is one of the leaders and protagonists in rail freight transport throughout Europe. She has been with Transfesa Logistics for 14 years, where she began in 2008 as Director of the Corporate Legal Department, later moving on to head the Asset Management and Operations Department and the Railway School. In addition to being CEO, she is also a Director and Chairman of the Board of Directors of several companies in the group. She is the first woman to head the company in its almost 80-year history.

From the very beginning as CEO of the company, one of her priorities has been to ensure that more and more freight travels by rail. In this line, she is in charge of the campaign "Freight belongs on rail" in Spain, which aims to make visible the advantages of the railway as a more sustainable means of transport as it releases up to 80 % less CO2 than its equivalent by road, reduces external costs by up to 50 %, helps to decongest roads, reduces accidents and noise and, furthermore, it consumes 6 times less energy.

Erik Grab

Erik Grab is Vice- President in charge of Strategic Anticipation and Co-Innovation for the Michelin Group since 2012. He also founded MOVIN’ON in 2017, a strategic anticipation and co-innovation ecosystem gathering over 300 international private corporations and public entities as well as academics and international organizations, based in Paris and Montreal.

Erik is a strategic anticipation and innovation unconditional enthusiast and regularly speaks on university campuses and international forums on the future of mobility and more generally on innovation processes and methodologies.

He is also a member of the Futuribles International Board, Vice President of the “Mobility Factory” created with Ademe in France, Canada and Africa. He is one of the four qualified personalities in France who are advising the Defense Innovation Agency and is a member of the innovation steering committee of the French Army.

Jutta Graefensteiner

As part of the German Management Board, Jutta Graefensteiner is leading the global Program “Deutschland Digital”, which has the ambitions to accelerate the country digitization in Germany. In addition, she signs responsible for the Country plan and Sustainability in Germany.

From August 2015 until February 2021, she has been leading the German Partner Organization where she owned the strategic direction of the partner landscape while leading the partner organization in the country. Since 2000 she covered several different leadership roles in Cisco, including the Central Europe marketing team across 17 countries. With more than 24 years of experience in marketing, advertising and communications she builds on a strong marketing and communications qualification. With her strong capabilities to lead diverse, multi-national teams and to engage talents she is a proven People Leader in Cisco. From 2012 until 2016 she led the Inclusion & Collaboration activities for Central Europe.

Before joining Cisco she worked in the Distribution and Photography industry.

Jutta Graefensteiner studied at the Bavarian Academy of Advertising and Marketing Nuremberg with the examination as Master for Marketing- and Communications (BAW) and finished several leadership programs i.e. EMEAR Accelerated Development Program (ADP), EMEAR Conscious Leadership Program and the Strategies for Leadership Program at IMD Business School Lausanne, Switzerland. In January 2020 she finalized the global ORSC™ Organization and Relationship Systems Coaching Certification.

Suzanne Greene

Lorie Gustave Dit Duflo - Sanofi

In her position as the Head of Global Logistics, Lorie is responsible for the development of Sanofi’s global logistics strategy including transportation, warehousing and procurement. Before that, she has worked in various logistics, procurement and marketing functions for leading companies in the auto mobility and energy sector.

Beth Hadley

As Product Manager for Climate Transparency, Beth leads the technology related aspects of driving Scope 3 transparency at PACT. PACT (Partnership for Carbon Transparency), hosted by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), brings together stakeholders from across the public and private sectors to enable targeted decarbonization action and drive corporate accountability through the sharing of emissions data across value chains. Prior to joining WBCSD, Beth managed software products in the supply chain analytics and sustainability space, including corporate carbon footprint solutions and automated warehousing software. A graduate of MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) with a Bachelor’s and Master's of Computer Science, Beth brings an inherently data-driven approach to product management and tackling the Scope 3 challenge.

Nikola Hagleitner

Nikola Hagleitner became CEO of the Post & Parcel Germany division and a member of the Board of Management of DHL Group in July 2022. She has been responsible for Sales within the Post & Parcel Germany division as Chief Sales Officer (CSO) since April 2021.

Nikola Hagleitner came to DHL Group in 2005 and has held various positions involving consultancy and strategy in Florida, USA, and in Bonn, Germany. In 2013, she assumed the position of CEO, Industrial Projects, in the DHL Global Forwarding division in London, UK, before she became responsible for DHL Global Forwarding’s worldwide sales and marketing as Global Head of Marketing & Sales in 2019.

Nikola Hagleitner has a Magistra of Law and an MBA in International Management.

Eric Hannon

Eric Hannon is a Partner based in McKinsey's Frankfurt office, and is a long time leader in McKinsey’s Sustainability practice. He has supported clients in large scale sustainability transformations across industry sectors, but has focused in recent years on hard to abate industries such as industrial and automotive sectors. Eric has over twenty years of consulting and industry experience.

Elsa Homann - GfK

Elsa Homann is Client Business Partner for the Mobility Industry including Logistics. In this position, she is serving clients from the logistics sector and therefore has a broad knowledge of the industry.

In her 7 years at GfK, Elsa has worked on many consulting projects including sustainability topics. She is also personally very interested in sustainability and is involved in the Sustainability Community at GfK.

In her presentation "Green ambitions, golden opportunities - Sustainability in times of instability", Elsa will highlight the relevance of sustainability in times of instability and show differences between industries and different stages of the product life cycle.

Elsa will also explain how consumer habits are changing in recent times and what drivers and barriers need to be considered.

The results of the GfK Consumer Life study will be enriched with practical case studies.

Dr. Klaus Hufschlag

Dr. Klaus Hufschlag is Senior Vice President for Sustainability Reporting & Controlling at DHL Group. In his role, he is responsible for the Group’s external and internal ESG reporting, including the Non Financial Statement, EU Taxonomy Reporting, as well as the Customer Carbon Reporting and the monthly internal reporting and controlling of ESG KPI. Contributing over 14 years of experience in developing ESG reporting processes in Finance, he has been appointed a member of the EFRAG Sustainability Reporting Technical Expert Group (SR TEG) in 2022, who works on the upcoming European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS).

Shehrina Kamal

Justin Keeble

Justin Keeble is Managing Director of Global Sustainability at Google Cloud. He leads Google Cloud’s portfolio of sustainability solutions and helps customers drive business and sustainability goals through technology.

Justin has spent the past 25 years working with companies to embrace sustainable business practices. His early career focused on oil and gas, mining and petrochemicals in China, Kazakhstan, the Middle East, Nigeria and South Africa. He then worked for consumer industries, telecoms and financial services in Europe and the US. Most recently he spent 14 years at Accenture as a founding member of the Global Sustainability Services practice and Managing Director. He has led projects for the World Economic Forum and UN Global Compact, is a Non Executive Director for the UK National Parks Partnership and sits on the Advisory board for Imperial College's Centre for Climate Finance and Investment.

 

Justin lives in South Oxfordshire, UK with his wife and three daughters and is a keen sailor and budding pugilist.

Noel Kinder

Noel Kinder is Nike’s Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO). As the CSO, Noel leads Global Sustainability, a team committed to protecting our planet to maintain an environment where all athletes can train, live and thrive. Prior to becoming the CSO, Noel was the Vice President of Sustainable Manufacturing and Sourcing, where he was responsible for collaborating with Nike Inc.'s business units, contracted factory leadership, representatives in academia and within the NGO community on the evolution of the company's sustainable business performance policies. 

 

Noel joined Nike in 1999 and has held a wide range of leadership positions in the footwear and apparel divisions as well as roles in strategic planning and finance. In 2013, Noel became the General Manager of Nike Vietnam LLC, one of Nike’s largest sourcing countries, and was responsible for all manufacturing operations. He has worked with a wide range of manufacturers; from textile and apparel production in Sri Lanka and Eastern Europe to footwear manufacturing in Brazil and throughout Asia.

 

Prior to Nike, Noel held roles that included leadership in several non-profit organizations as well small, privately-held companies in the United States. He has also served in the United States Peace Corps, spending two years in Honduras.

 

Noel holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from the University of Oregon and a Master’s degree in Business from Portland State University. He is fluent in Spanish.

Thomas Kirchermeier

He started his career at Kautex Textron as a forklift driver and held a wide variety of functions in operational logistics. In 2001, he moved to Siemens VDO as a logistics planner for new product launches. After 5 years, he took over as Head of SCM Diesel Systems Europe and became SCM Head of the Business Unit Engine Systems and SCM coordinator for the Division Powertrain after the acquisition of Siemens VDO by Continental. In addition to that, he was responsible for Industrial Engineering within the Business Unit.

As part of the organizational realignment of the Powertrain division, he was responsible for the transformation of the Supply Chain Management organization and has been head of SCM at Vitesco Technologies since 2019.

Andres Oliva Lozano

Andres is a Senior Research Analyst at the Ellen MacArthur Foundation. His work focuses on supporting companies accelerating their transition to the Circular Economy through the creation of insights, resources and collaboration on cross-sector projects. The main focus of his research revolves around the link between the circular economy and supply chain management as a critical piece to delivering regenerative business outcomes.

TotalEnergies Renewables - Vice President, Distributed Generation

Matthieu LANGERON – Vice President Distributed Generation for TotalEnergies. Matthieu, 50 years old, engineer graduate of the Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble (France), joined the TotalEnergies Company in 1995. Beginning his career in the Cards and Retail business, he was in charge of different functions in Germany, France and Italy. Managing Director for Total in Tunisia between 2014 and 2017, Matthieu was in charge of the Global B2B division for the Marketing and Services branch of the Company. Identifying growth opportunities in the B2B markets, this business unit leveraged Global Key Accounts, Customer relationship and innovative solutions for the strategic segments of the Company. In 2021, Matthieu is appointed as Vice President Distributed Generation (DG) within TotalEnergies. Operating in 30 countries, the DG Business Unit has recently reached a new milestone with the signature of 1 GW of green Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) for self-consumption on the sites of its B2B customers. Arne Maibohm

BIO: Arne is responsible to coordinate and drive forward Hapag-Lloyds overall decarbonization topics, including but not limited to strategic target setting and tracking, development of solutions in fuel efficiency, future proof propulsion and fuel options as well as regulatory adherence.

After graduating from Arne joined Hapag-Lloyd in August 2002 as an apprentice. After having worked 2 years in Hongkong he returned to Hamburg in 2007 to join the Network and Cooperation department where he gained a brought knowledge and understanding of the container shipping industry. In May 2021 Arne moved to the sustainability department and since October 2022 he is in charge of the decarbonisation team.

Emmanuelle Maire

Emmanuelle Maire works at the European Commission in Brussels, in the Directorate general for Environment (DG ENV). She heads the team responsible for Circular economy, Sustainable Production and Consumption. The core activity of the team is to support the transition to a circular and green economy in the European Union. Carlos Maurer

BIO: As Shell’s Executive Vice President, Sectors & Decarbonisation based in London, Carlos Maurer is responsible for Shell’s global organisation of more than 3,380 people, who will work sector by sector to address individual customer energy and decarbonisation needs. Teams with specific sectoral experience and deep industry knowledge are accountable for supporting customers in reducing their emissions and working with them to identify and accelerate decarbonisation strategies and pathways.

The Shell Sectors & Decarbonisation business serves customers in the aviation, marine, commercial road transport, agriculture and forestry, construction and roads, business enterprise, oil and gas, and mining sectors, as well as other sectors that can benefit from Shell’s expertise in delivering decarbonisation solutions. Carlos was also responsible for the delivery of Shell’s separation from Motiva Enterprises in the United States.

Carlos holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Rice University in Houston, as well as a BSc in Industrial Engineering from Texas A&M University. He is married with three children. 

Abbey McDougald - Cisco

Abbey McDougald, Business Operations Manager, is the lead for the ESG space in the Logistics Sourcing & Strategy team at Cisco. In her 8+ years at the company, she has gained experience across many Supply Chain functions as sustainability SME & transformational leader, including new service offers for Cisco circular economy IT asset disposition, reverse logistics optimization, trade compliance, packaging sustainability, life cycle assessment, and ecolabeling. She holds a Master of Engineering in Sustainable Engineering and a Bachelor’s in Industrial & Systems Engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology, and proudly hails from Buffalo, NY, the city of good neighbors.  She currently lives in Raleigh, NC and teaches & competes on the national level as an Irish step dancer.

Florent Menegaux

Andreas Mündel - DHL Group

Dr. Andreas Mündel is SVP of Group Strategy and responsible for strategic projects in the area of production. Dr. Andreas Mündel has been in various strategic roles in the consulting and logistics industry for 20 years. After studying physics, he initially worked for the management consultancy McKinsey and moved to DHL in 2004 as Head of Strategy of DHL Express Europe.

Anis Nassar

BIO: Anis Nassar is a seasoned environmental sustainability and international affairs economist with experience in the private, academic, and international organizations sectors. Anis started his career in brand management in the fast-moving consumer goods industry. At Procter & Gamble he led the global design of marketing strategies for Gillette Mach3 a multi-billion-dollar brand. He also delivered implementation in over 50 countries for Braun, spanning from Latin America to eastern Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and ASEAN. Anis then pursued a PhD in Economics at the University of Fribourg, publishing peer-reviewed research on private innovation and public policies designed to safeguard our environment. Anis is now bringing this academic and private perspective to Resource Circularity at the World Economic Forum, leading the engagement with private organizations.

 

Tomas Naucler

Tomas is a Senior Partner in McKinsey’s office in Stockholm and the global leader of McKinsey’s Sustainability Practice which he founded in 2006. Tomas invented the Marginal Abatement Cost Curve concept and scaled up multiple green start-ups such as H2 Green Steel and Northvolt. Tomas authored various wide-spread articles such as the recent “Playing Offense” and spoke at numerous fora such as COP26/27 or McKinsey’s Green Business Building Summit. Julia Palle

Julia Pallé is a leading expert on sustainability in motorsport and the international elite sport industry.

As Sustainability Director at the world’s first all-electric motor racing series, Formula E, Julia certified the

ABB FIA Formula E World Championship net zero carbon since inception, the first sport in the world to achieve the standard.

While developing and implementing the sustainability strategy at Formula E, Julia has overseen a number of significant achievements that establishes Formula E’s credentials as a leader of sustainability in elite sport.

These include:

• Achieving third-party ISO 20121 certification in 2016 alongside the likes of London 2012 and Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, the first motorsport series to be awarded the standard.

• Powering the racing cars by 100% green energy through a new sustainable fuel, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil (essentially waste cooking oil), since Season 7.

Julia is also Sustainability Advisor for Extreme E, the all-electric SUVs series, bringing electric racing to some of the most remote corners of the planet to highlight the climate change challenges faced by different ecosystems.

Widely recognised as a leader in sustainability in global sport, Julia is a regular speaker at major events and conferences including COP26, Bloomberg, Sport Positive Summit, and FIA Smart Cities. Her industry roles include President of Sports and Sustainability international (SandSI), an international association of sustainable experts working to broadening and harmonising the international sport and sustainability movement.

Before joining Formula E and defining the sustainability strategy, Julia was sustainability executive at Michelin Motorsport. Her primary area of research has focused on Business & Sustainability, Change Management and Project Management especially in Motorsport.

Elena Pazzini

Elena Pazzini is the Head of Sustainability of ABB Motion since January 2023. Since 2021 she has focused on building the business sustainability function governance to best execute the ABB’s Sustainability Strategy 2030 in line with the new decentralized business model of the company. Elena has 10 years international experience in corporate sustainability, and hold various roles in sustainability, environment, and HSE both at global and local level. She holds a Master in Green Management, Energy, and Corporate Social Responsibility from Bocconi University, and a Bachelor in Political Science and Economics from Milan University. She is based in Milan, Italy.

Ester Morales - Google Cloud

Ester works as a Sales Engineer and specializes in Sustainability at Google Cloud, and has been in the IT industry for more than +10 years. She helps companies reduce their IT operations’ emissions, and reimagine business models using Big Data and Machine Learning while having a positive impact on the environment. 

Before that she spent more than 10 years in the United States working for a few cloud providers as a Solutions Architect, helping customers deploy applications to the different public cloud offerings.

Mary Oxley

TITLE: Vice President Marketing & Sales – Middle East and Africa

BIO: Mary Oxley is an accomplished Commercial Sales Leader with 20+ years’ experience working for DHL across Asia Pacific and the Middle East. She brings a deep knowledge of the organization, including its many products and services, and the global freight forwarding network. 

Mary leverages her proven industry expertise across regions and pioneering business development principles to drive market share gains and profitability growth within new and existing channels. She is particularly skilled in managing, mentoring, and empowering high-performing sales teams to achieve strong growth. John Pearson

BIO: John Pearson has been appointed as CEO for DHL Express and as such was appointed to the Board of Management of Deutsche Post AG on January 1, 2019, responsible for the EXPRESS division. Before starting his current role, John held the position of CEO DHL Express Europe, Head of Global Marketing Express, as well as Head of Global Customer Service Express. In this capacity, he was a member of the DHL Express Global Management Board and the Global Commercial Board of DHL Group, representing Express.John is a veteran of the express industry, having joined DHL in the Middle East in 1986. Bertrand Picard - Founder and President Solar Impulse Foundation

A pioneering spirit and an influential voice to encourage the implementation of efficient solutions.

One of the first, as early as the 2000s, to consider ecology through the lens of profitability, Bertrand Piccard is considered an opinion leader on the themes of innovation and sustainability. Chairman of the Solar Impulse Foundation, he promotes qualitative growth by demonstrating the economic potential of clean technologies. Denouncing the absurdity of polluting and inefficient systems that are still too often used today, he advocates for the modernization of the legal framework in order to facilitate access to the market for efficient solutions. 

His voice is heard within the largest institutions, such as the United Nations, the European Commission, the World Economic Forum... and his commitment has earned him several nominations, such as Champion of the Earth, and United Nations Goodwill Ambassador.

Adam Pitrowski

Adam Piotrowski is a Technical Partner of Durapower Technology Group in the Netherlands. He works closely with Durapower Singapore on Research and Development, Strategy, and Business Development teams to create innovative sustainable energy storage concepts for Durapower’s mobility and stationary businesses. He is involved in several electrification projects across e-mobility, marine, and specialty applications.

Prior to joining Durapower, Adam worked as Senior Engineer on the Vehicle Electrification Team in Eaton’s Corporate Research and Technology where he was responsible for benchmarking, research and development in a field of electric vehicles. He was involved in electrification strategy plans for various vehicle types and non-road mobile machinery, and was responsible for technology scouting, and recommendations of innovative project plans for the group. In electrification sector, he was responsible for electric propulsion matters, energy storage and optimising overall efficiency.

In his early career, Adam was at the Research and Development Department of Solaris Bus & Coach, where he was responsible for energy consumption simulations, battery lifetime analysis, and research and development. His technical feasibility studies allowed several European cities to transition their conventional diesel fleets into full electric and technical advisory was valued by the public transport operators.

Adam holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree and a Masters in Power Engineering degree from Poznan University of Technology.

Patric Puetz

Patric Puetz is Head of ESG Accounting and EU Taxonomy at DHL Group. After studying Media Informatics at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences, he joined the Group’s environmental protection program “GoGreen” in 2008 and supported the early achievement of the carbon efficiency targets set for 2020. Since 2021, he is working in the Finance team on further developing the Group’s approach to ESG Accounting and leading a project on automated cross-divisional emissions reporting to DHL’s major customers. He also joined the development processes of many industry standards such as the ISO 14083, the GLEC Framework or the Greenhouse Gas Protocol Standards.

Xavier Ribas

Xavier Ribas is the Head of Global Logistics Operations for HP mInc

He joined HP in 1994 as Manufacturing Engineer for Large Format Designjet Business.

Since then he has been playing different roles in almost all the value chain areas of Supply Chain.

He has been managing Product, Process and Automation Engineering teams for Graphics and Inkjet Printers Businesses at Worldwide and Regional level.

After that, he managed Designjet GBU Operations including Technologies Procurement and Customer Assurance teams.

In 2010 he moved to EMEA SC Operations as Planning Director for GSB (Graphics business) and in 2013 expanded his role with the all SC Planning for Printing in EMEA for Laser and Ink, both HW and Supplies.

in 2017, he moved to Logistics where he managed Logistics Operations for EMEA region, Global Logistics Procurement and since March 2022, leading HP Logistics as Head of Global Logistics Operations.

Prior to join HP, Xavier worked in few engineering firms in Spain as mechanical engineer and Project Manager for automated material handling equipment.

Xavi earned an MBA from the ESADE Business School in Barcelona in 1998. He received a bachelor's degree in Mechanical engineering from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (ETSEIB) in 1992.

Josh Steinitz - Amazon Worldwide Operations

Josh Steinitz leads the corporate business development team for Amazon Worldwide Operations, managing strategic partnerships and investments across Amazon’s global fulfillment, logistics and transportation operations. Over time, Mr. Steinitz’s team has built a particular focus on sustainability and decarbonization, helping lead major initiatives in support of Amazon’s Climate Pledge. These investments include a partnership with Rivian to co-develop a customized electric delivery van and deploy at least 100,000 in the U.S. alone. Likewise, his team focuses on harder-to-abate sectors like middle mile trucking, ocean shipping, and air cargo, and also works to support investments in sustainable packaging and reducing plastic. I have been with DHL for 23 years with a diverse career during that time. I spent around 10 years running Retail and Life Science operations and then expanded my experience into project delivery, operations excellence and learning and development. An industry veteran, Yin Zou has been working in logistics industry with DHL for over 20 years where he has held management roles in Europe, the United States and China, covering commercial, strategy, shared services and operations. His resume includes over 10 years of logistics experience in China, spanning manufacturing planning in the semiconductor industry, transportation operations, distribution center operations and commercial development with major clients.
