Tom Van Woensel is a Full Professor of Freight Transport and Logistics in the OPAC group (Operations, Planning, Accounting and Control) of the Department of Industrial Engineering and Innovation Sciences at the Technische Universiteit Eindhoven in the Netherlands. I work with around 20 Ph.D. students on various Operations Research models for several Transport and Logistics problems. I have established a solid academic foundation in Transport, Logistics, and Supply Chains. I have consistently pursued avenues for professional growth to remain up-to-date with the latest industry trends and best practices. By merging my academic expertise with practical leadership skills, I can successfully navigate intricate challenges and facilitate organizational success.

Markus is a recent graduate with a master's degree in Operations Management and Logistics from the Technical University Eindhoven. In his studies, he focused in particular on sustainable supply chains and the harmonization between economic and environmental business objectives. In his master's thesis, Markus investigated the role of logistics as a potential enabler of the circular economy in collaboration with DHL and the European Supply Chain Forum. The results of this academic research offer relevant practical insights and implications for multiple stakeholders, including manufacturing companies, logistics service providers and end consumers.
After graduating his studies and gaining several years of consulting experience, Markus is now ready to start his career with the goal of driving sustainability transformation in global supply chains.
