The growth in electric vehicles (EV’s) is continuing to gain momentum across every continent in the world including the Middle East. This momentum brings with it, a multitude of opportunities for consumers and businesses alike. It also brings challenges. None more prevalent than the management of the batteries.

Following the 2022 launch of DHL’s groundbreaking EV Center of Excellence in Dubai. Team EV will host an in-person conference addressing “The Battery Challenge” in Middle East Africa.

  • Fathi Tlatli has been with DHL for 16 years starting in 2004 as Vice President for the EMEA Engineering & Manufacturing Sector then receiving additional responsibility for the Global Aerospace Sector in 2007. In 2009 he moved to his current role as President of DHL's Global Auto-Mobility Sector now responsible for the strategy, development, and the global customer management program for DHL Customer Solutions & Innovation.

    Fathi is a holder of an MBA in International Management (University of Leuven) and a Bachelor's Degree in Applied Economic Sciences (University of Louvain). In addition, he has diplomas in Integrated Supply Chain Management (University of Stanford) and International General Management (IMD). Fathi is the author of books on Time Management (Effective Time Management, Gestion 2000) and marketing in Emerging Markets (Successful Marketing in Emerging Markets, Gestion 2000), as well as articles in the international management field.

  • Over the past 4 years, Dustin has been a key member of the Management team responsible for launching EnviroServe’s state-of-the-art e-Waste recycling facility. He established the Commodities Trading Division with a focus on downstream value recovery and the IT Asset Disposition Center with a focus on data security and asset resale. 

    Originally from Canada, Dustin has been in Dubai since 2008 and his eclectic international resume includes spans start-ups, real estate, events, sustainability consulting, and even professional sports. He is an experienced entrepreneur with a passion for taking ideas from concept to implementation. 

  • Toby Groom is passionate about evolution in the logistics industry, especially relating to developments in the field of EV Logistics. He is a trusted value creator and communicator, who enables and actualizes customer-focused concepts with integrity, in a stakeholder-orientated professional manner.

    Toby has been with DHL for 20+ years, with intimate experience in logistics operations, solution consulting and design, and customer development. He has a background in the Technology, Life Sciences & Auto-Mobility sectors, which provides a rounded perception of the growing EV Logistics market leveraging experience of similar journeys in parallel industries. He is currently leading the EV Logistics Program within DHL Customer Solutions & Innovation and, together with the rest of the team, is responsible for driving strategic development in a market with evolving regulations and customer requirements.

  • Ognjen Jovanovic is the eTrucks Manager at Daimler Trucks & Buses MENA, leading the sales and business development of zero-emission vehicles of Mercedes-Benz Trucks and FUSO in the MENA region. He specialises in dealer management, business development and electric vehicles – and has over nine years of experience working at Daimler Commercial Vehicles MENA.

    Prior to his roles at Daimler Commercial Vehicles MENA, Ognjen held positions at Daimler AG, Mercedes-Benz Serbia and Montenegro for over 11 years. As a Product Manager for Mercedes-Benz Trucks, he contributed to product strategies, while his role as a Product Trainer showcased his ability to educate others in the industry.

    Ognjen holds a Master's Degree in Automotive Engineering from the University of Belgrade. His passion for zero-emission vehicles, dealer management and business strategy make him an asset to Daimler Commercial Vehicles MENA and the MENA region.

  • Bellina Furtado manages the CSI and MNC customers within DHL Express and is responsible for the implementation and development of ‘in time’ express solutions for customers in the dynamically changing automotive sector. She began her career with logistics over 10 years, starting with an air charter operator, then moving to DHL Global Forwarding and finally DHL Express. With a background across Air cargo, freight forwarding, 3PL solutions and Express logistics, she has worked closely with several large business groups and has developed a deep understanding of customer supply chain needs and logistic solutions. 

  • Sean Harley is a dedicated Key Account Manager based in Dubai, overseeing critical accounts within the Automotive and Luxury & Fashion sectors for DHL in the freight forwarding and logistics industry. Throughout his career, Sean has honed his expertise across various supply chain domains, including Express, Freight Forwarding, Logistics, Courier, and E-commerce. His exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, combined with his extensive knowledge of the supply chain industry, have enabled him to cultivate enduring, mutually beneficial relationships with his valued clients.

  • Dirk Nel is the Regional Customer Director for the Auto-Mobility sector. He is responsible for Middle East North Africa and Turkey. He is a seasoned supply chain professional with over two decades of Automotive experience. Throughout his career, Dirk has held key roles in various countries, where he has honed his skills in supply chain management and transportation logistics. With a deep understanding of the automotive industry's unique challenges and a commitment to innovation and sustainability, Dirk continues to drive improvements in automotive logistics. His unwavering dedication to excellence has made him a respected figure in the field, and he remains at the forefront of shaping the future of sustainable automotive logistics.

  • As a Regional Account Director at DHL, I leverage my logistics expertise and sales and marketing skills to drive growth and customer satisfaction in the transportation sector. I have over 10 years of experience in the logistics industry, working with diverse clients and partners across multiple regions and channels. I have a strong background in the automotive industry, where I managed key accounts and projects for DHL Global Forwarding for many years. I am passionate about delivering value and excellence to my customers and stakeholders, and I enjoy collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve shared goals and objectives. I am always eager to learn new skills and explore new opportunities in the dynamic and evolving logistics field.

  • With over 25 years of experience (including 20 with DHL) in the airline and logistics industries, across 3 continents, Irina knows what it takes to keep things moving.  She heads up the DHL Innovation Center for the Middle East and Africa Region, a purpose-built platform to engage customers, start-ups, and industries on the future of logistics. She is passionate about putting Sustainability on the agenda of DHL customers and partners and working together on innovative solutions to make supply chains greener. Irina holds a Masters of Business Administration Degree from Lancaster University, UK. She has been calling Dubai home for the last 9 years; a mother of two Dubai-born ‘treasures’, her family embodies the vibrant multicultural tapestry that is the essence of the UAE.

  • Christopher joined DHL in 2018 when he took over the responsibility for the DHL SmartSensor product. Since then he is driving and leveraging research and product development of cutting-edge Internet-of-Things solutions to foster the deployment of IoT technology within DHL and customers with his team. In that role Christopher is responsible to manage the portfolio of visibility solutions used by DHL and its customers, all evaluated and set up in the light of the high standards of the LSH industry.

    Prior to DHL Christopher worked as a Senior Project Leader in a Management Consultancy for 7 years with a focus on network industries like energy, telecommunication, and logistics. Herein, he was leading multiple projects in the area of Business Model Innovation based on data-driven services.

    Christopher is a holder of a Masters's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Mannheim, Germany, and is based in Bonn.

  • Siji Anto works as director Sales and leads Enviroserve’ s UAE Sales team. With over 15 years of experience in business development and corporate sales, Siji’s focus is to develop Enviroserve’ s entire portfolio of business within UAE and internationally with primary focus being EV battery recycling. Committing to a Circular Economy would always be her area of interest.

    The DHL TEAM EV ‘Live’ event is an industry-specific event hosted by DHL that provides a platform for DHL Customers and partners to come together to network, share ideas that drive business growth, and identify new opportunities for process excellence in the supply chain and logistics.

    Is this event open to everyone?

    Attendance to Team EV ‘Live’ in Dubai is open to invited and registered delegates only. Any requests to join will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. DHL reserves the right to reject or cancel any registration due to limited capacity or any other discretionary reasons it deems necessary.

    Is there a cost to attending the conference?

    DHL does not charge a delegate fee to attend this conference. 

    Is there a dress code? 

    We recommend “business casual” for delegates.

    Team EV ‘LIVE’ in Dubai will be hosted during an extremely busy time in Dubai. There are a number of high profile events happening during the same week.  Therefore we strongly advise guests to make a hotel reservation at their earliest convenience.
