DHL GLOBAL FORWARDING & DHL AVIATION
Two Business Units Join Forces to Add Value for Their Customers
Together, DHL Global Forwarding and DHL Aviation demonstrate just how much value can be added by creatively bundling resources – all facilitated by our in-house carrier DHL StarBroker, powered by DHL Global Forwarding. Focus on innovation with DHL Speedgate, resilience in the face of Brexit with DHL Channel Connect, and discover new solutions that address capacity challenges thanks to joint flight operations.
The collaboration is the power behind our extensive Air Freight network; more integrated and comprehensive than any other logistics provider can offer to their Customers. Here are a few examples of our partnership in action.
Based at Amsterdam Airport, one of Europe’s leading import Hubs, DHL Speedgate connects DHL Global Forwarding’s intercontinental Air Freight flows with DHL Aviation’s Airport infrastructure and expert handling capabilities.
On arrival, dedicated DHL vehicles are waiting at the ramp to transfer cargo airside to our first-line airport handling facility. ULDs are then collected and taken directly to the DHL Global Forwarding landside cross dock for breakdown and onwards shipping.
The result is considerably shorter than average lead-times; and a service that better connects the global marketplace.
DHL Channel Connect
In the lead up to January 2021 and the UK leaving the EU, many Customers were concerned about their orders being tied up in delays and congestion at ferry and tunnel sea crossings created by Brexit.
By working together, DHL Global Forwarding and DHL Aviation quickly set up DHL Channel Connect, offering twice weekly flights connecting Schiphol & Heathrow – in both directions.
The temporary schedule provided peace of mind to UK & European Customers and ensured that time sensitive goods reach their destination on time, every time.
Joint Flight Operations
That partnership extends globally, with DHL Global Forwarding utilizing DHL Aviation’s global fleet of more than 200 dedicated cargo aircraft, to operate a schedule of dedicated airfreight capacity; all supported by StarBroker connecting and expanding our Hub network.
This joint route development enables flexibility & risk sharing, and means that DHL can open up new routes to market, providing increased capacity for our global Customers. We operate seasonal scheduled flight operations, Customer-specific charters and ad-hoc flights – all of which connect continents, enable global trade and accommodate seasonal peaks.
Together, DHL Global Forwarding and DHL Aviation are pushing the boundaries for Air Freight through collaboration and partnership and delivering competitive advantages for our Customers.
