DHL INNOVATION CENTERS BRING PEOPLE AND IDEAS TOGETHER
“When we launched our Innovation Centers over ten years ago, we were excited about what they would achieve but had no idea how popular and valuable they would become,” says Matthias Heutger, DHL’s SVP, Global Head of Innovation & Commercial Development.
Initially designed as a showcase for DHL’s logistics network, the Innovation Centers have now developed into a world class resource for customers and partners to meet, connect and exchange ideas with industry experts.
Why have they been so successful and what is it that sets them apart from similar ventures in the field? Matthias may have the answer: “I guess that at the heart of it all is people. There’s nothing quite like the excitement you get when you are part of a team on the verge of creating something new,” he says. “That’s how our customers feel when they visit our Innovation Centers – because they become part of the process, talking to experts in the field and offering their own views on where they see the industry heading.”
Matthias is careful to explain that these centers are not just talking-shops. They create value for customers by listening to their concerns, their hopes and the challenges they face in day-to-day business. And this integrated approach is delivering results that are changing the industry for the better.
